I know its allmost impossible to diagnose a sound on here but its worth a try, maybe some of you have had this experience b4. I'm hearing a faint metallic sound like metal on metal when shifting the car into first when coming to a stop. Also am hearing the same sound when pulling out from first.

The sound is coming from the tranny area, Im pretty sure its not the clutch as I have heard it with the clutch engaged/disengaged. Shifter/shifting feels like it always has, no grinding, no extra nothchiness. I'm just worried my tranny is gonna go, my beater car lost its tranny last week so the stang cant go down:nonono: .

I would try jacking up the car and takeing a look underneath. That metal on metal sound could be comming from the h-pipe rubbing against something.
Also, check the metal bracket that holds up the transmission. My car was making some odd sounds and I found out that I was missing one of the two bolts on that metal bracket. My tranny was rocking left and right making noise because that bolt fell out.

I took a visual underneath when I got home, i'll pull it up on the ramps tomorrow to check for any missing bolts......I did just install a upr x 2 wknds ago so that could be a good possibility and I hope thats it.

bill302, I had to replace a u-joint on a f150 I had a couple years ago.....those made a horrible sound and loud, this is more like a "creaking" metallic faint sound.

i broke the guide shaft for the throw out bearing on mine it sounded like a piece of metal flyin around in the bell housing..because it was lol. the sound would happen randomly too. sounds like that might be ur problem. i hope not for ur sake though.

Thanks for all the suggestions on what to check for, didnt get home early enough to get it on the ramps to take a look around. Im gonna try to drive the wifes car for the rest of the week and ill look it over this wknd and put in some fresh mercon3.
