Just curious if anyone has done that and how its been? If you did do it, post why and what you bought. Pics would be nice too :D

I'm thinking about doing it so i'm wondering who else has thought of it or done it.

I want an R6...blue.

Waiting for a larger house so its not ouside and I will not sell the mustang for one...been tempted but in the end I just like the car more than a bike. If your looking for some cash though selling your car (if its in nice shape) would more than pay for a good used bike.

What stops me from getting rid of the mustang for a bike? For the 6-7k the bike would cost getting back into a mustang or any other car would cost more...I would rather save and have both...my .02.

My car is in very good shape. I should be able to get $8-$9k for it. I would buy an older used bike first to learn on and fall off a few times. Then when I felt ready and the money situation was good, i'd look into a near new yamaha R6 in blue or a kawasaki ZX-6R in lime green.

I just dont have much interest in the car. No interest in racing it or putting money into it. If I drive it twice in 2 weeks, its a lot. Its easily capable of going deep 11's but I have no interest in getting it there.

Mike, a starter bike is so cheap, why not just buy one? Or is the bike just an excuse to get rid of the stang?

I did the bike thing in my youth (I still have 3 street bikes) and it's not comparable. You have a DD so that helps. I'd still just get a bike and keep the stang if you're able to. You might hate riding anyhow (it's not fun when your tired, the weather sucks, you're hauling parts for your Saturn, etc).

Anyhow, good luck with it.

I bought a bike in addition to the Mustang. The sad thing is that it sits more often than I ride it. I really don't have anyone to ride with, and while that's not necessarily a bad thing, it makes riding boring sometimes. I just don't find riding as enjoyable as putting the windows down, turning up the stereo, and having a nice cruise in the Mustang. I guess I'm a car guy, and probably always will be.

I went from this.

I would like to get another bike sometime but Id do it differently this time. I had a 95 GT before and sold it for the 2005 CBR 600 RR. I couldn't keep the bike and get another Mustang so I sold the bike this past spring. What Id do differently this time around is buy one used. Id like to in another year or so pick up another CBR. It was a lot of fun and I do miss riding now.

Theres just no room left for another toy. PLus the money situation won't allow me to have both, its just too much money to have 2 toys where one will be sitting a lot. I've just lost interest in the car, this is nothing new i've felt that way for a while now. Cruising around just isn't as fun as it used to be. Eventually I wanna upgrade to a newer daily driver, so that plus the stang and a bike is just way overboard.

Well mike u know i have a bike...and got it when the stang didnt want to act right. I love it....but im not a big "stunt" guy so my riding is pretty "simple" besides the few high speed blasts to 120+ on straights. I have a 05 Kawasaki 636.

It is 2 different types of "cruises"....any and everyone u run into on a bike will be friendly...cant say that about the sports car population. THe bike is a better "stress" reliever....the acceleration is unreal. But in michigan, we get random COLD nights which makes riding on the bike a PITA unless u planned for it. On nice days its fun, but it can get hot. Im not one who thinks its ok to ride without gear....so all that leather heats up when sitting at a light.

It sounds to me like the stang is outta there regardless....now its just a matter of what to replace it with. I say put the stang up for sale and buy a cheap bike....test it out. If u get addicted then invest in something nicer. If not, u didnt waste much time/money and can look for another car. Or just save to get a really nice daily driver.

Yeah i'm not looking to do stunts or anything like that.

I really would like to buy a nice daily driver and have a bike as my toy. Sell the stang and get rid of the saturn for whatever I can get for it. The stang is just not fun like it used to be. At most i'll drive it 2-3 times a month.

95mustang, for a first bike if I got an older one, I can't see myself paying more than $2k. Unless I decided to go with something decent and a litttle newer then i'd say around $4k.

Sportbikes are a dime a dozen.I know I own two .They are fun but I wouldn't get rid of my stang for one.In the fall and spring the paper will be filled with bikes everyone had to have then found out its not for them so they sell them. You won't be able to do the same with your stang. If you made the switch then regreted it.You prob would have a hard time finding another clean one you know how was taken care of. I would try to find a cheap beginer bike and see if you even like riding first before you get rid of the car.My wife just had to have one so I got her one.The first season she put 4k miles on it and had a blast said she loved it.She hasn't touched it in two years.

Although I have never thought about selling my car for a bike I have occassionally wished I had gotten a bike instead. I love my car, but I absolutely love riding bikes. I have rode quite a bit and love every minute of it. As someone else said however, if you don't have friends that own them it will get bored pretty fast riding by yourself. Jus does. Also, a 600 will seem slow to you in a couple weeks. Comparing bikes and cars is near impossible since they are so different. All I know is when I would take bike trips up north along Lake Michigan with a couple other buddies with bikes, it was some of the funnest times I have ever had. You just can't take the same kinda trips or adventures with a car. Well, you could, it just wouldnt be near as fun. All I know is that as soon as a rode a bike I wanted one. They are extremely fun.

I was seriously considering it a couple months ago. I'm really just tired of something breaking or going wrong every time I turn around with this car. Hell just today I was about to leave and drive to Texas to visit my Dad for a few days, popped the hood to check all the fluids, and my belt was torn to shreds. I fixed it, but now I'm a day behind. Seriously the amount of willpower it takes to not beat the piss out of the thing some days is ridiculous. Anyways, I was looking at Suzuki SV650's. I read a LOT about them and even joined some forums. They seem to be great bikes and a whole hell of a lot of fun for both beginners and experienced riders. I really like the whole naked bike look, too. I don't like choppers and crotch rockets are, ehhhh. When I was looking at all that stuff though I found some very disturbing websites about motorcycle crashes and all that.......I just have to say, don't be a squid! Buy gear and good gear at that. It doesn't matter if it's hot or uncomfortable or any of that, when (not if) you go down, it will be money well spent.

i was originally going to trade my 03 954rr for my 95 gt

i wound up just buying the car and sometimes i wish i traded and kept the money for hot rod parts

i have only 1 freind who rides other than that its just me

it was fun at first but like alot of others have said it just wore out.

weather ,to exhausted after work to ride, etc

if it were me i'd just pick up a decent find on used bike:flag:

i still have the original tires on mine thats how much it sits:notnice:

That line about UL think a 600 is slow in 2 weeks iss welll,....:bs: , U WILL GET USE TO THE SPEED, but that doesn't mean u think its slow, of course everyone wants more, but after a couple years not weeks.....some people cant handle a 600 at all, let alone a 750 or 1000...It no different then modding a stang, u do a supercharger and get in it for the first time and hit the gas and u **** ur pants, but after a week or so u can handle the power....its still just as fast, but not as surprising.....no offense to anybody but the ones that say U will need a 1000 a few weeks after a 600 are the people who dont even have a bike, or fall of it.. And the people that "get sick of it" or "it wore out" were never true riders. Ill ride till in ridding a wheel chair..lol....I know it sounds harsh fellas...but its the truth...

By the way i bought a stang,,,,....then a bike View attachment 355495

Well sorry bud, but I do believe that. Maybe it would BE slow, but it won't feel very fast after a couple weeks. That is certainly not to say to go out and by a 1000 cause you'll grow out of a 600 too fast, it just is what it is. I would definitely recommend a 600 to a new rider sure, but chances are they will ride it for a season and if funds permit, step up the following year. At least that is what I have seen from the folks I know who started on 600s. And I totally do not agree with the whole "if you get sick of it you arent a true rider". Whatever man. If you go on a weekend trip or something and put hundreds of miles on your bike, it feels darn good to sit your butt in the seat of a car after you get back. I just feel like there is a balance, meaning there are certainly times when a car just sounds way better. Any rider would agree.
