My front brakes are shot, and need new rotors and pads. I figure while i am going to have to take all this apart i might as well upgrade to better calipers now as well. Plus the brakes probably need bleeding anyway. i was thinking of ordering this kit: Cobra brake kit

My question is what size are the rotors, and how much improvement am i going to see. or is it just shiny red calipers that say cobra on them.

I just installed some this saturday, i also ordered from buyford racing
cept i ordered the mach 1 brakes, they are same thing except they are black and dont say cobra or mach on it.

I prefered that because its 50$ cheaper.
Rotors are 13 something inches I believe, and the improvement in stopping is massive. Totally worth it!

Install was super simple also

I also got that exact same kit, and I agree. The cobra brakes make a world of difference. If I were to do it over again, I'd get the mach 1 kit since it is indeed cheaper and the same thing...though the red calipers do look pretty cool.

I did mine earlier this year. I thought it was a night and day difference between the two, but I also needed brakes anyway. The pedal is much firmer and feels more responsive to input. If you stomp on the brakes, there's no doubt the car is going to stop, and it feels like it wants to do it very quickly. I'd definitely recommend the Cobra brakes. When I do a 31 spline rear + new axles, I'll swap the rears over, too.

i feel you fellas on the 50 dollar difference in price. I really want the bullet kit i think it is with the running horse. But fifty dollars is fifty dollars.

stang i also would like to do the rear cobra caliber kit too. they don't look nearly as nice as the front kit does. i wonder if it would be a better idea to buy the braket and rotor kit and put diffrent calipers on.

I also have Cobra front brakes and love them :nice:.

Another option for the rears is from Baer Racing. It keeps the stock caliper
and upgrades the rears to 13 inch rotors as well. Price might be high, but
would look sweet. And I don't think you can have 'to good' of brakes.

Well just installed the front (MachI calipers w/brembo rotors) and rear (cobra rear) brake kit, install went flawless, thirty minutes for front and an hour and a half for the rears and about thirty minutes to bleed the system. best 825.00 dollars i spent. If anyone needs help or questions I pretty much got it down.

THe cobra stuff isnt bad...Its better than stock mainly because of the larger rotor and the fact the caliper is aluminum so its a bit or unsprung weight removed. It's great for street but not perfect. But compared to most calipers there cheap and simple. Its a good value.
