Suspension kit questions.

Hi All,

I wanted to get opinions and ideas of what set up you all are running. I am looking for a well balanced sporty set up but not really bone jaring type of ride.

I have a dilema I am looking at getting the new 2008 Shelby GT vert, so I test drove a new 2007 Mustang GT vert over the weekend. I like the way the new mustang drove but I am not sure if I want to spend the $50k on the Shelby, so I am thinking of keeping my 03 and continue moding it.

I would be most greatful if you all could list your set up and rate it on a scale of 1-10 where 10 is best mark.

Ride quality? 1-10 (1 soft - 10 extra firm)

the one i had on the mustang, was absolutely amazing for handling. the ride was ehhhhhh on the street.

tokico illumina 5-ways with matching springs from stangsuspension.com with MM full length sub-frame connectors. The benifit of having adjustable struts/shocks is that you can stiffen it up on winedy roads or soften it for cuising. My car handles like its on rails on setting 5. the sub-frames really made a difference too.

installed the suspension today but ran into some trouble. i had to throw the front springs in with no isolators at all, it was the only way the bastards would fit and i was kind of in a hurry so i'll tackle them again on tuesday

as it sits the ride is fairly harsh but not terrible. the isolators up front should soften up the ride a bit. i'll make a new thread in a week or two after i've spent some time with this setup

I have the tokico D-spec with steeda springs. I also got most of the steeda stuff they have (sthop the hop kit, full length subframes, urethane bushings throughout). I should have maximum motorsports all the way with coil over in stead. I miss having the car not having an adjustable ride height.
I have no problems with the suspension and it's amazing, but want to be able to adjust the height.

If you're not going to be tracking(Road Racing or Auto-Xing) the car very often, say once or twice a year, then I would go with the Tokico D-Specs and Steeda Sport springs. This way you can adjust the ride stiffness and height. If you're going to be tracking the car more than that then you probably want to talk to Maximum Motorsports about one of their kits.

Right now, I have FRPP B Springs, HPM SFC's and MM LCA's.

In the coming months(maybe x-mas as the wifey mentioned getting this for me) MM Panhard Bar and MM Torque Arm.

Griggs, steeda, maximum, agent 47, and BMR all make great products, IMO you should stick with 1 company for the whole kit (all MM, all Steeda, etc)

Vogtland Springs with no isolators (they handle great in the mountains and are also pretty good for launching) with KONI reds....

Car is a little on the stiff side with the koni's...I had tokico blues on for about a thousand miles before I switched and they were quite a bit more comfy.
