I have a 2004 mustang gt and it has full bolt ons and comp cams with a stock 5 speed. I changed the clutch to a spec stage 3 and since then ive had nothing but problems with either the clutch cables, clutch tranny. you name it. I am planning on changing to a automatic with a stall, what all do I need to do that.

I personally prefer rowing my own gears on a street car...I guess if my car was an all out drag car, I would do an auto, but I prefer manual myself....CobaReds auto setup is sweet though.....:D

:D , thanks. But in all honesty i still wish i had a 5/6 speed in my daily. When im at the track, yeah i like the built auto + stall conveter + no missed shifts. But when out enjoying some open mountain roads even a B&M hammer shifter isn't as fun as the ol' clutch and standard H

its also not as fun.....standard shift impresses the ladies to:nice:

tough call.. i slam second gear and all i see is a grin and them bouncing off the walls.. i wouldnt mind having a 5 speed though, it's not that big of a deal.. long as i can burn the back tire off, and do it succesfully, im fine with it lol

I love the fact that I have a Mach 1, auto or manual wouldnt matter, but I do love the auto with its current mods. Honestly if I were u, I would seriously step back and figure out whats wrong with my trans. Maybe you should take it to a trans specialist and pay them to sort it out and enjoy it. I mean something isnt right with it apparently, just gotta figure out what it is and go from there. I love manuals and if you are a good driver its even more fun, but autos are just as fast or faster with the right combo of mods done to it...gears, converter, trans cooler, valvebody, tuner and DR's and not many manuals (with identical mods)can hang with you. Just fix your current trans and youll be happy.:)

Dude seeing what cobrared has done with his auto makes me wana do the same thing that hammer shifter is bad ass and your exhaust set up has been viewed about 50 times from me in the past 24 hours, I cant get enough of what you did to your car. I wanted to sell mine and get a truck but I am reconsidering big time now. How many miles you got on yours cobrared?

:D thanks a lot man:nice: It's nice to see others like what i've done, it sure was a labor of love. I'v got 114k miles on the clock now (north to south California trips have thier toll) but by the end of this year i should have PI heads and valve train that has about 15k miles on them + stage 1 cams + the pi intake + dyno tune - and that should lower some of the average milage:rlaugh: But you can sure bet i'll be posting more vids of that once i get a serious power boost, so subscribe if you want. Furthermore, if you have any questions on any of my set up or the labor involved, shoot me a pm cuz it's not copying when it's a good idea, it's just having good taste:D

Right now with the manual I make 298 hp 309 tq. Im guesing it will be low-mid 270s with the auto. I was planning on doing a power adder but this damn tranny and clutch keep getting in the way. Little money here little money there, so I think that a auto swap will be the best thing for me to do so I can actually drive my car without getting pissed off everytime I get in it. I am waiting on a Quote from Fastland Motorsports and then im gunna go from there.

(298/.85) x .8 = 280.47
(309/.85) x .8 = 290.82
and this would be w/ a stock slush box

You def have a nice car man and you rep the autos quite nicely. Its good to have positive thinking/doing people in these forums as some people cant see the good in autos to save their lives. Keep it up!:nice:

Thanks! yeah the auto enthusiast group is pretty tight knit and has to have a stiff upper lip to hang w/ the standard guys. The biggest challenge is explaining that not all of us are still settling for an auto. Many of us are quite fond of the capabilities of the 4R70W and enjoy our the low 60' times. I could have bought a low millage t-45 to replace my auto instead of building up my 4R, but the idea of having a stock 5-speed over a built auto w/ stall TC, reworked valve-body and cooler didn't make sense.
Perhaps the biggest misconception is that none of us know how to drive a stick (i learned to drive on a stick, was funny as hell to watch, but i did). It's not like we gave up after failing at manuals, how many of us stang owners ordered our cars direct from Ford to our specs? For many the opportunity of the "great buy" mustang is too much to pass up based simply on the gear box. But admittedly i still have to ask my bro if i can drive his supra once and awhile to get out the urge.
