Well, it's finally finished! The engine is running good, the trans shifts beautifully, and now it looks good too!

I put a LOT of work into this car. Got it at the beginning of the summer - it's my first project car. Picked it up for $550. Now, here she is, in all her glory. Built the engine, built the transmission, and cleaned/re-did the entire interior/exterior.

paint looks great. as Green GT says some fresh black paint will look good on side mirrors..carb foxbody 5.0 motor what year model motor is that, and you need to clean up the wiring mess under the hood a good washing some wire looms and rerouting will look great..

It's a 92 roller motor, and yeah, under the hood is a mess right now.. it looks like it got hit by a sandstorm (paint shop).. i'll get it cleaned up.

Engine is a stock bottom end, 750 Holley carb, performer RPM intake, P&P'd GT40 heads, Wolverine WG-1087 cam, 1.6 Pedestal RR's, and comp cam springs.

Transmission is an AOD I built.. entirely custom setup. 2.84 first and 1.55 second, Wide gearing. Buys me a couple MPH and performance in each gear. As for the rest of the trans - shimmed throttle limit valve, shift kit, heavy duty input/output shafts, larger heavy duty pump, 4 extra clutch plates in the direct clutch, wide planetary gear set, extra clutches stuffed in all over the place, every part some form of fabrication, deep oil pan, brand new seals and gaskets, 1750 stall TQ converter.

The coolest part on the trans is on the valve body, there's a check valve that pushes clutches back and forth for 2nd gear to engage and disengage.. we found that spot, and drilled a hole through the plating to build and relieve pressure. When 2nd gear is engaged, oil goes through the hole and pressures the valve and engages the plates.. and when 2nd gear is disengaged, the oil goes back down through the hole and into the oil pan.

It's slick.

Paint was $600 since I did all the sanding myself.. heres some before pictures:

When I bought it, it had a junk engine, junk transmission, and junk body. Re-built everything. And no it's not rio red - it's actually 'Arrest-Me Red' - its a color i've seen on Grand Prix GTP's that I like a lot.

looks good. i would have painted the mirrors red too. wheels and headlights will set that car off.

seems like you know what your talking about with the tranny. care to explain what the point of the 2nd gear thing is about? what does it gain you? i know absolutely nothing about autos

600. Thats a good price, im looking to get my car redone, but i kinda wanna change the color. never had a car painted, how much you think something like that would be?

Keep in mind that figure does not include what a body shop would charge to do all the prep work (removal, sanding, bondo, degreasing, priming, fitting, etc)

Realistically, you're going to pay $2500 + for a good color change if you are not doing the majority of the work yourself (the prep work)
