Coil-over noises

I got the MM kit awhile back.

Well, I noticed a creaking/pop sound when turning, which I would assume is the springs binded on the perches then "popping" into place when they are twisted so much.

So the question is...

Does anyone have a remedy for this? It's not really as much of a performance issue as it is an embarassment issue driving a car that creaks and pops.

Muchas gracias.

I took a bit of an inspection at the sleeves just a bit ago. It seems as if the springs are rubbing on the sleeve because it looks like the paint has been scratched off on the inside of the spring.

I can't really get a decent look at it since I'm at school and away from my tools until December.

It doesnt seem very cool to have my spring sliding around when I turn the car.

To get the ride height that I want, I have the bottom perch pretty close to the bottom of the sleeve. The upper perch is non-adjustable since it sits on top of the strut body.

I was hoping the guy with the Roush wheels would chime in. I think he has the same set up. I know a few other guys have it too, but their handles escape me. Low5.0 maybe.

If I don't have it fixed before then, I'll post up some pics around Thanksgiving.

I haven't ruled out the tie-rod ends popping. What would cause that? Too tight? Too loose? Bad ends?

And yes MM is very helpful. I called them about 20 times during the installation everytime I had a slight doubt about something ;) Good folks. And patient too. Haha.

i have had no noises, i had a clunking once and turned out my cc plates loosened off a bit. i know i had some rubbing because on the sleeve the paint is worn off as well and some of the metal has actually grounded off but i dont get any noise? when you mean turning you mean cranking right over or what?

Just like whenever i'm back my car out of a parking spot or turning at a red light. As I turn the wheel, I hear a creaking/popping sound. I don't hear it at all if I only turn the wheel slightly like going around a curve over changing lanes.

I'll check out the ball joints.

Why don't you just put a shorter spring in it? They make 14" and 10" springs that would allow you to raise the bottom collar up higher.

My car makes no noises except for when I turn into my driveway. Its an incline with 2 90* bends as it inclines. Once i get to my garage door I usually have to cut the wheel to full lock and back up a little to get lined up to get into it and when I do it makes a little pop sound, but thats it. My suspension and steering are all convoluted at that point though so it doesn't bother me to much.

I just went what they sent me, and I don't remember if they sent me a 14" or 10" spring. I told the guy at MM I wanted to ultimately lower the car about 2" so I figured he'd set me up.

I checked out my ball joints and the sleeves that cover them are ripped so I betcha they're dry.

Just sucks being at school and being incapable of checking everything first hand and having to play guessing games.

Well, this afternoon, I discovered that it was a tie-rod problem. Lost the steering in my left wheel, but luckily I was turning from a stop when the rod busted.

It sucked seeing my car on a tow truck.

I was going to go home, but an old friend who I hadn't talked to in a year wanted to hang out for Halloween. So I hung out with her instead. If I had gone home, the tie rod would've malfuctioned at 70+ mph.

I could've avoided all this but I'm 2 hours away from all my tools so I've been having to wait to inspect until Thanksgiving.
