Your opinion on other stangs...

My first was a 99 Gt vert, triple black, auto. It was bone stock when I got it in early '04. I modded it pretty well in the 2 years I had it (over $5k in mods including labor) It was still slow and constantly beat up on. Overall it was a good and reliable car that was fun to drive.

Me and my brother are working on a '89 right now that has sen it's better days, but when it's done it will rock. I have only driven it once, but da,m that low end torque rocks. And is the only fox body I have ever drive, kinda hard to rate it.

Now I'm rocking the Roush and lovin' every second of it. It has plenty of interior room, nice power stock, and the looks are phenomonal, gets atres everyday when I go somewhere in it.

1) '85 GT, carburated; well optioned, really good restoration. It got totaled in 2000. Long story. Men cry. I decided to not have emotional relationships with cars. I had this car for almost 11 years. I think I'd still have it if it didn't get wrecked.

2) 2000 V6 5sp; good bottom end, not too much different from the bottom end of a GT, ran out of steam at upper end. The engine sounded like an old Falcon. Did dual dynomax and sounded sorta like a Toyota Supra and sounded flatulent too. Hated the sound so much that I traded it for a...

3) 2001 Cobra; Lots of fun paste the back of the head into the headrests takeoff; beautiful lazer red/parchment combination. Did 18x9 y2k Cobra rims in chrome with 275/40 and FRPP lowering, also Pro 5.0 and flowmasters. Wound up with a car with a bone-jarring teeth rattling ride and was so loud I couldn't hear the radio. Pro 5.0 made it even still harder on the back along with already stiff stock clutch. Uphill traffic jams were no fun. I wasn't going to undo the mods. I didn't think there was much of a difference between it and new S197 so I rented one to get it out of my system. Well it didn't so I traded it for.......

4) bluecar!! I do miss the Cobra but do not regret the trade (although the dealer stole it from me). It sold in 2 days. 2 people were interested in it at the same time. I hope it went to a collector. It would have been nice to keep the Cobra but garages in my part of town rent for $200-300.

The Cobra looked like this:

As for comparing stangs, the new ones are quicker than those of the muscle car era. The new stangs will run the quarter in mid 13's, where as the 428 CJ, 390's and what have you were in the 14's. One of the quickest of the old stangs were the 71 boss 351's and we have them covered by a hair. The weight of the 71-73 hurt that car, put a boss 351 in a 67 aand it would run 12's. Also in fairness, the old fe big blocks produced such torque, traction was a problem on the stock cars. Modified suspensions and tires on the older stangs and yeah, then they will run with us and around us ha ha. On my 68 GT with the 428 CJ, it wouldn't move in first gears on stock tires and spun trough 2nd and 3rd, they were torque monsters.

1995 GT vert- 5.0L/5 speed. My first car and plenty fast for a 16 year old. Drove it until almost 200k miles.

2007 GT coupe- Have had it for a year and I love it.

2007 GT500 vert- Smooth and very fast. Triple black sleeper with no stripes. Drives more like a European sports car than a muscle car in my opinion.

2001 Bullitt- One of my favorites. Pretty quick and an all around fun car. I love the looks I get in this one.

Owned:

1971 fast back (DL) with a 289. This was in 1987. I bought it from a Warrant officer while in the Army. Paid $400. It had 245,000 miles! The tie rods rotted out, I was shipping out to Korea, sold it for $100. This was in TN.

1992 LX convertible. Was a rental at one time. White with black top. Loved that car. It was our "trip to Key West" vehicle.

2005 silver GT. Had tons of problems. Throttle body, limp modes, differential, etc...
Traded up to my current 07 GT. Love it. Wife smacked the 05 front end. The other day an old lady hit the 07...Damn!!!

She has an 07 Solstice GT, which is a blast! Can't decide which vehicle I love more. The solstice is like a skateboard on steroids. Love the turbo, handles muuucchh better than the stang.

We both love the Mustang so it stays in the garage all week, while she drives the Solstice and I drive my truck....

I would trade her for the Solstice...in a heart-beat, based on the handling alone. It is a 5.3 second car...stock.

Yeppers. Love the Solstice. GM went above and beyond with that little beast. Skateboard on steroids is an excellent analogy. hahahaha

I'm real curious to see how well this initial direct injection Ecotech holds up.

If you could pencil in a reminder for me to follow-up every now and then on that little beast, I would appreciate it. More than once, I have considered getting one.

1986 LX 5.0= My first Stang and I felt that passion for Mustangs.

2005 V/6 Mustang vert: Redfire vert with black top and tan interior. Bought in Hawaii while stationed there so having a 2005 Mustang Convertible made me enjoy my last 5 months on the Island:nice:

2006 Mustang GT Vert: Triple black and my favorite car I have ever owned.

Many years ago (when I was 17), I had a 66 with a built 302 in it.... my 2nd car. I loved that car, but I was young, stupid, and an inexperienced driver. Totaled it shortly after I got it.... sorry, no pics.

Bought a new 80 Capri (basically, the Mercury version of the 4-eyed fox). It only had the 2.3 four-banger. It was good looking, reliable transportation, but not very fun to drive even though it was a stick. No pics.

The 01 Cobra vert was a blast to drive stock.... Unfortunately, had to sell it because we were buying a house, and my daughter was starting college. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.

The 03 V6 coupe was a great car after I was done with it.... true duals, intake, UDPs, suspension, SFC's, gears, and tune made it very quick and fun to drive car! Traded it in on the 07 GT... wish I could have found a way to keep it.

The 96 GT vert was a recent addition to have a fun sunny day car. It still needs some mods to make it fun to drive. Right now, it's a dog. But, it's all stock with only 40K miles on it. Will probably keep this one for many years after I'm done with it.

I started out with a jet black '88 LX 4 cyl back in '92. Yeah I know I got made fun of because did everything I could to make it look like a 5.O minus the badges. But hey when your 16 living outside of D.C. insurance rates were throught the roof, you don't have muck of a choice

In late '93 I dumped the 4-cyl. off to a close friend of mine, and bought an '87 GT conv. Man that car was unbelievable, burgandy with a white top and chrome 16" ponies. I still to this day don't know why I got rid of it? I owned it for 14 months:(

In April of '95 I purchased an '87 LX which I owned until '99. I had everything done to that car, gt-40 heads and intake, 125hp shoot of juice, exhaust, gears, Weld Draglites blah, blah, blah. Ran 11's got tired of it and had to pay for school.

So around '00 after I graduated I got the bug again and didn't have much cash so I opted for a Jalapeno Red '86 GT. I got it because of the t-tops. Never got along with this car, it was a constant headache! One thing broke after another. i got rid of it a year later right after 9/11 because I went back to school.

I bought the '06 GT in May of 2006, ordered it with what I wanted. Enjoy it but I haven't driven it enough to have an opinion on it. I just don't get the same feeling now driving Mustangs when I did back 13 years ago. I don't know why?

89 GT...my first car bought by myself, got it at 20...have made many upgrades such as EFI to Carb swap, cam, rockers, exhaust, gears etc. I love this car and I've said that when I die they have to bury me in it lol

My daily driver is an 05 v6...I first drove my friends 05 v6 auto and fell in love with the interior and the ease of use (for daily driving) ever since I've thought of having one and its been almost a week and I dont regret one second =)
