Anyone tried one of thoise clear front bras on an 05+ stang? ALmost like a clear sticker that goes over the nose of the car...Im noticing a lot of chips in the lower hood/bumer and its pissing me off! Im planning on investing in painted stripes and certainly dont want to wreck them too! Do the bras stick out like a sore thumb? do they even work?

leave it up to professional installation, unless you get them for free. they are tricky to apply perfectly. anyone that has applied vinyl stripes would have the basic ideas on how to apply these. the hard part is at the nose, and around the edges. when we get these in the shop, we sublet them, and it takes that guy over an hour usually to make it perfect. thats someone that does it everyday.

once they are properly installed, they work great. not real noticable unless you are close to the car, or have a build up if wax around it.

Check out shops that do window tint, lettering etc. I got mine done at a place like that recommended by a good body shop. The material used on my '05 is call Stonegard by 3M. It is great, but what is better is the installation. Completely custom to the car. Stay away from the pre-cut kits. They don't provide the coverage. I have basically the whole front end done as well as door edges and door handle pockets. Mine cost about $700 and that included pin striping. It has been a worthwhile investment as my car is a daily driver. I am virtually ding free!!

Ordered mine today

I just ordered mine for the 06 Gt. I got the 3M scotchguard on ebay for about $180.00 I also ordered the headlight protection from stickercity.com for about $60.00, it includes the fog lights and turn signals. I really wanted the 3m for the bumper and hood so i odered it from ebay. I am going to try to find an installer if not I will give it a shot my self.:D

I had a shop that specialized in 3m installs custom cut and wrap the Roush nose and lay some material behind the tires on the ground effects. You can't even see it unless you look real hard for a edge, it wash and waxes just like paint. One year later and all is well no chips, job took two days and expiensive but well worth the money :nice:

I'll share my experience with the Clear Bra (3M). I had a Dodge Charger RT that I had it installed on. When it was finished, it looked fantastic. But to be honest with you, I would never install one again if the car is your daily driver.

Bugs, rocks etc are not supposed to damage the paint. However my personal experience was the bug guts still make a mess of the actual clear bra. And to be honest, I had a small rock jump up and hit my bumper and it not only damaged the bra, but it also chipped the paint.

In my opinion, I think they suck. Sorry for being harsh, but I was not thrilled with the product.

How so?? not sure about the bugs in your part of the country but around here they wipe off the clear bra material without much effort. Sorry to hear it didn't work so well for you, after 9k miles of daily driving the paint on our Roush shows no wear from road debris anywere and it still looks as fresh as the day it came off the show room.

Finished the install it came out great!!! It took my a whopping 8 hours to install!! I made sure i was extra carefull and it turned out good for being my first install. Well worth the money.

Mine has one, can you see it?

My ex has it on her G35 Coupe. Worked real well for the 5 months she had it while we were still together. No chips at all. Not very noticeable, but when you do see it, you'll possibly freak out that its a scratch for a few seconds!
