RHS 180's

Was looking around and found a test done by mm&ff on a DSS 331, with a TFS Track Heat Intake and a TFS Stage 1 cam, with a set of GT40-Y heads the engine made 302 hp and 342 lbft torque, when swapped to a set of RHS 180's the horsepower jumped to 339 and the torque went to 367, so I guess they will be a good choice for my 331.

About how much more power will my combo make? I am building a 331 Liberator shortblock, RHS 180 Heads-58cc, Systemax Intake, Ed Curtis custom cam for a daily driver/street car, 70mm tb, 70 or 75mm maf, 24lb injectors, Pro Magnum roller rockers, and a 190lph fuel pump w/regulator, and long tube headers to dumped flows?

About the same as the mm&ff 331, but with a custom cam instead of the TFS Stage 1 and a Systemax intake instead of the Track Heat and long tubes instead of shorty's.

Thanks:nice:

If they are going on 331 and you are set on RHS I would step up to the 200cc runner that way you can grow into them the extra intake volume will really help out on a stroker motor. I would keep th 58cc chamber though. Also I would consider a swap to 30 lb. injectors and with ED grinding the tickle stick that thing should haul ass with a 3.73 or 3.90 gear. Also a stroker motor need some camshaft so don't be afraid of bigger duration and lift numbers they need to breath.

Are you sure I would need the 200cc rhs's, to grow into as you said, I don't plan on adding anything else to the engine after it is built, like nitrous or any type of forced induction, all I am wanting is a decently fast and reliable street car to drive 2 to 3 days a week tops.

Car Craft ran an article on the RHS heads a short time ago; they seemed to really like them. I'm thinking you'd probably be happy with the RHS 180's if it's going to be more of a street oriented car.

Dont get me wrong the 180cc head will work fine on that motor and will make it a proverbial torque monster. I just dont like to see people buy things twice and you know how addicting power gets. To buy the 180's and then one day send them for a port you would have been farther ahead to buy the 200's. Also on the Topline ,RHS, World Products Heads all the features stay relatively the same with the exception of the intake runner and valve size. I just personally feel the 331 would be more at home with the 200 cc RHS head on it and a hotter street cam.

Will the engine lose any bottom end with the bigger 200cc head, I am liking the 180's because I want more bottom end and a good top end, with the 200's I know the engine would probably make more power over all but it will have less bottom end, which is what I want, how will the 200cc head affect my power bottom end and top end, also won't the bigger 200's slow down the intake velocity making the engine have less throttle response.
Thanks for the responses so far, keep em coming, I want which ever head will give me good torque good horsepower and good throttle response.

The bottom end will not be soft by no means and the extra cubic inch will take care of most of it. I could see a problem on a street oriented 306 but a 331,347 stroker is a little different animal. The laziness you come to expect from a 180 cc headed 302 is not present in a stroker motor. As far as the intake runner going stagnent I don't see that happening for two reasons (1) A stroker motor takes a much bigger gulp of air with each breathe it takes and (2) The RHS heads although good heads dont have the flow of a comparable 200 cc head they are a bit slower. But hey to each his own either way you will end up with a killer piece. The 347 in the red car set up for juice has 8.5:1 comp with a set of Dart Pro 1 195's on it and a lazy ramped Comp Nitrous cam and I tell you with no juice when the tach reaches 2500 you better be on your game for sure. Strokers Rule!!!!!!!!
