I have recently put a holley systemax intake manifold on my 92 lx 5.0. I am have trouble getting it to idle steady and I believe its because of the vacuum lines not being hooked up correctly. If anyone has pictures of their holley systemax/vacuum lines installed could you please post/send to me.

Those are some nice instructions! That should help you out. Most likely you have a vac leak or have things hooked up incorrectly. Check fuel pressure if you can.

thanks guys, I think my problem is there is no vacuum line running off of my fuel pressure regulator and I do not remember there being one. It is an after market regulator similar to this one.

Thats not good but chances are thats not your problem, how about the main vacuum line? If there is nothing on that you will have a idle problem for sure. When I first fired my car up last winter I had forgot that line and it wouldnt idle, quick fix then idled perfect. Good luck.

Ok, got all the vacuum lines in the right place now, still surging but not as bad. It settles to a steady idle after a minute or so around 950rpms. Took it for a drive and is running really poor, doing everything from backfiring to turning off. There is one bolt that is missing that helps connect the upper intake to the lower intake and could also be the cause to a whistling noise we are hearing. I guess we are going to get the bolt that is missing and go from there, but it involves taking the upper intake off so it may be a week or so (thanks to my work/school/military obligations) before I'll be able to say anything more. Again, thanks for the help.

it sound like you got yourself a vacuum leak start your car up and hold it at 2,000 and have someone spray wd40 or starting fluid around the intake lower and upper as well as all the bolts and vacuum lines. the cars revs will go all crazy when you find the leaky spot also watch beatn it to death like that if you have a leak it will cause that cylinder or cylinders to go lean

Good advice from punisher right there. Vac leaks can be sooo hard to find. Spraying wd-40 around the lower intake/head area and where the lower meets the upper. As well as around the TB/EGR. Check all connections thoroughly...and make sure the PCV valve is securely placed in its little whole in the lower.

ok so i finally got around to taking the upper/lower manifold back off and really took my time making sure that everything was installed/done properly. It started right up, I let it idle until it got to operating temperature and set my timing to 16. Let it run a little longer to make sure I had no leaks prior to taking it out for a ride. I then shut the hood and the engine reved a little then turned off. Following that it would no longer start, and still will not.

This is probably the most random thing I have had happen to me, I am not sure if it was a coincidence or if shutting the hood could have knocked something loose causing the engine to not start.

When I try to start it, there is no igniting at all, just turning.

Any ideas on what could have possibly happened? Where I should begin to look?

Thanks.
