It's very easy, I've rebuilt quite a few. You need an in/lb torque wrench for the compressor wheel nut and a pair of really small snap ring pliers. That's all you really need other than common hand tools to rebuild it. Now to actually measure the housing and the shaft to see if they are still within spec is completely different.
Most of the time you can get away with just replacing the cheap parts that come in a rebuild kit. If you have any questions after you get it apart you can always take it to a Diesel ship to have them mic it for you. They would probably do that for a $20 bill before lunch.
