Three Rivers, Mi
Ok here goes; after seeing white 88 gt t-top that someone posted up, I know how I want to finish my capri. I want to make a would-be 87 mercury capri. Build what Ford-Mercury should of built in 1987 had they continued the capri. I bought a 88 gt conv. for $200, it was a roll-over car, so I'm using it as a parts car.

The first thing I want to do is switch interiors and the efi. Second is switching the doors. After seeing the gt t-top someone posted, I like the look of the conv. style flag mirror better. Third is (I KNOW some people will rip the hell out of me but oh well) I want to put the ground effects on as well. Including the the hood, headlights and front bumper cover. Although I want to find a way to mate the capri grill to the gt bumper cover. Just to keep the capri i.d.

I would like some positive input on making this car, like/dislike, what would you do little different?. My car will be going to my friends dad's body shop after thanksgiving so, I need to make decisions soon. The more I think about this idea, I like it more and more. Also if someone is really good at photoshopin, photoshop a capri grill somehow onto a gt. That would freakin sweet. thanks:nice:

I can post pics tonite when I get home from work.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Your Capri is an RS?

BLASPHEMY!

Please don't ruin the Capri.

Mine was bastardized many years ago by my Ex husband.

Seriously, why do THIS (mine):

I'd vote to keep the Capri. (Since I've had my 79 Capri since 81)

Capri body parts are getting harder to locate, so if I had one, I'd keep it. I have always liked the look and style of the Capri.

There are some front spoiler/air dams for the Capri, in the 79-82 timeframe, but they seem hard to find these days. I did score an 82GT front for my 82 LX.

i think it sounds good, as long as you find a way to make it a capri front end like you mentioned, I would try to find a spare capri clip to butcher tho, and keep that stocker in a safe place. Now your gonna have to fill in the mustang letters on the back bumper and sideskirts tho, or else i think it would come out crappy, It would be really cool if you could get a set of cobra sideskirts. i dont think they have letters in them, if you could find somebody that could etch capri rs , that would be really cool and have a factory moniker about it

Cool beans. :nice:

I'm actually a bit confused by what your plans were. Were you wanting to do something like this?

(here's a bigger pic but it's a bit fuzzy because I made it bigger)

This is a '93 GT with a Capri front end with the lower part of an aero GT nose "spliced" on it and GT ground effects. Belongs/belonged to an SN member named WLDHRSE.
