classic mustang project discussion

I would like to get everyone's opinion on this since I am considering taking on a classic mustang as my next project.

What are the pros and cons to working on a classic mustang? I would definitely be doing a restomod, I am thinking a 65 coupe would be really nice. Everyone chime in and talk me into or out of starting this project.

Is it going to be a daily driver? a show car? garage queen? Track machine?

I am looking for a weekend warrior, definitely not a daily driver but not an unreliable POS. It may see some track time but mostly just cruising around with the family. And hopefully the car will never see a trailer. I would like to find somehting that has the body work done already (if it still needs paint that is ok but rust free)and runs good for a reasonable price. Then I want to slowly modify things as funds come available.

a 65 coupe is a good place to start lots of aftermarket, and a lot of quality used parts available both for reasonable prices.

My 65 coupe was my first car and a daily driver. Over the years I have done 1 or 2 projects a year to get it where its at now (11 years later!!), but I am still not finished.

Realistically its all about time and money, the more you have the better off you are.

if it's a weekend warrior, you'll want some wider tires out back so.... a 67+ would be a better bet cause the wheel wells are bigger. just a thought

yup money and time are a necessity, my parents told me that whenever one thing goes wrong u have to replace 2-3 other things, it was true! 64-68 are quite common. I've got a 66, california car, the previous owner had it since 1968, but had to sell it after a back surgery. I consider it my daily driver, but in reality I'm only home for the weekends.
