Driverside Window

Hey guys. Yesterday got back from my friendly neighborhood Auto Zone after buying car wash only to realize that my driverside window would not roll up. All the swiches worked except the up button for the driverside window. Now today I went to buy some switches and that still didn't fix the problem. I then pulled switches from my bro's 97 stang, no luck then I even put his trim panel in my car and plugged in that other wire-harness module that is in the driverside panel. So I know its not that either. What else could it be? The winder is down...it makes a click noise when I push the down switch, of course I think that still works, but I don't here any such click when I push the up button. What do you guys think? Sound familiar?

odd. usually if its the motor is will get slower and noisier  . i would have put money on the switch. mine done this a few weeks ago...the ds window would go down fine and would come up -sometimes-. went to ford and bought a $18 switch and fixed the prob

It's funny, my 95 had the same problem. I took the switches apart and cleaned the insides, which was of no help, but once I swapped the driver and passenger side switches to the opposite sides, all was well once again. Maybe I'll pick up some new switches someday, but they work for now.

remove your door panel and pull the plug on your motor, then take a 12v drill battery or car battery and run small jumper wires off of it. Touch the wire on your motor terminals and it should move if it does reverse wires and window should go the other way. If it works both ways that rules out the motor you have a switch problem or broken wire. Also look into the glass tracks they can come off track and bind up not letting the window move. The tabs on the regulator that are glued to the glass also come off and will need to be re-glued sometimes.

that tech article is for the passenger side which...

I think is the same as driverside, but my problem is that I don't know what wire to jump to check the motor (don't really want to just start cutting into wires. One problem is that I can't remove the little regulator or motor (i don't know the difference or if its the same) with the window stuck down? Who ever has gone in there on the driverside should know what I am talking about. So how might I get my window back up so that I can have room to get that motor out or at least check it. Which wire to I look at?

gave it a couple tough taps

When mine does that I just pull the door panel and tap on the motor.

Tapped on the motor and that did the trick. It wasn't the switch. Goes to show, don't buy parts unless you come here and get advice first. Thank you. She's working now.:flag: Does this mean I am going to have to do this weekly? What is going out or bad if this happens?

I would have changed mine a while back, but it stopped doing it as often so it wasnt really a problem. That plus Im too lazy to do something that wont make my car any faster. :rlaugh:

But I do plan on changing my motor... one day.

there are stops inside the door to keep the glass from going to far up and down yours is going to far down and jammin the motor up try to adjust your stop up a bit that will keep that from happening. Those motors a good for the brushes going bad in them I would try to find a cheap motor

Stang Junk Yard

Well I am pretty lucky. I got two mustang junk yards relatively close to me. Nothing but stangs and fords. Telling you whenever I go, its like a kid walking through a candy store. I just want to buy everything lol. But yeah paid 40 bucks for the driverside switch panel for my vert. Better than 65 70. But yeah as I said before it wasn't the switches so I am thinking about putting them in the corral or on ebay. But will see. I get a lot of stuff on ebay, but as a seller, ebay is a big rip if you ask me. With listing fees, bid ending fees, and paypal fees. Gets pretty pricey unless you are a business and you are trying to avoid overhead. Anyways that was my $.02.
