local ford dealership/tramission problems

Ok so 3 weeks i took my car into the local ford delership to get my 30k tune up and a few warrenty items checked out before my warrenty ran out. one of them was that my 2nd gear kept poping out of gear and i've taken that to them 2 other times and they couldn't find a problem. well they told me my linkags was going out so they would just replace my transmission under warrenty. they gave me a new transmission and it was all fixed even though they new my car had modifications.
two weeks later i was backing out of a parking space and i heard a loud thud and crunch.. i get out look around and didn't see anything so i get back in to back up and sure enough i didn't have a reverse gear. so i took it back in to get this new transmission with 700 miles replaced and now they wont warrenty the 2nd one.and when they opended the tansmission up most of the teeth broke off the reverse gear. and now there saying my car's been too modified they can't warrenty a modified car since my manual T5 transmission isn't built for that.. does anyone else see a problem with this? what should i do becasue they wont budge and ford wont help either and i really don't wanna pay $2500 bucks for a new manual transmission when my first one was still in working order.

alright cool i would love to hear it. and if anyone has any ideas of how to help with this it would help alot too. I really don't wanna pay $2500 bucks for new manul transmission when it wasn't my fault in the first place that it broke after two weeks.. not to menchin that my first transmission would have gone another 30k before it started truly going out.

my understanding is that if they did the work in the first place (by warranting the trans) they will be forced to fix their problem. They are married to the job now. You will probably have the best luck talking to the regional representative for Ford, they are the ones with the power. You will probably end up with a flag on your vin that you had a CUDL (Customer Relationship Center Customer Data Link ) contact . It also kinda shows you as a complainer when you go in for work, because you "ran to mom" but sometimes thats what you gotta do. As you can see below, Ford is concerned that they will loose you as a customer, and also very concerned of complaints that go to the North American Customer Relationship Center. Let 'em have it!

Ford said:
What is Concern Resolution?

There are times when a customer complaint cannot be prevented – even when the dealership has proactive measures in place. These customers are at risk of being dissatisfied with the overall ownership experience, resulting in a loss of owner loyalty.

To prevent a complaint from escalating into total dissatisfaction, dealerships need to design and implement a process to promptly and proactively address customer concerns. The objectives of a dealership Concern Resolution Process should be:

To improve customer satisfaction and owner loyalty through a timely and consistent customer handling process.
To provide a simple, step-by-step process-based approach to resolving concerns within the dealership.
To reduce the number of customer complaints that escalate to the North American Customer Relationship Center.

Yello05 Thanks for the help! so i actually called that number earlyer last week, and just like you said the put a flag on my car.. they also said that it was out of there hands and there was nothing that they could do. that it was between me and the dealership now. and the dealership say's its between me and ford and not them.. so there pretty much giving and passing the blame. I actually got my car back last night from the shop after forking out $2500 and sure enough they "forgot" to do the warrenty work that i've asked them to do the past two times it went it. (the botton on the back of the seat that lets people in your back seat broke of) the part was still sitting in my cup holder were i left it 3 weeks ago. there excuse was that they forgot about it and to bring it in today and they'll fix it again..so i told them to screw themselves and i'm taking it to a different dealership. so the next step for me is contacting the better buisness bural and starting a complaint against vancouver ford. :notnice:
You would think that vancouver ford would want to keep there customers espeshally since my dad was interested in buying a new 08 turbo desiel F 350 and told them that. but instead they lost a few customers.

as far as the comment below yours yello05. I went and talked with blue Oval and got there opionon last week their great guys in there and i trust what they say. and for now on i will be taking my car to them or another dealership. thanks

I had similar issues with a toyota dealer. Our <40k mile Camry started smoking an dI knew she was burning oil etc. took it in they said it needed a complete shortblock as the rings and valves were shot. Tried to say I was not chaning oil, etc etc. I had a family member in another toyota dealer, called them, they had me call the regional office. That got it fixed in 2 days!

I am shocked the regional office pushed you back to the dealer. That is real garbage honestly. To late now but I would have paid the $1-200 to have it towed to a different ford dealer when they started playing games.

That sucks man. There are dealerships like that in almost every city i.e. Harris Ford *cough *cough.... Contacting th BBB is a very good route. PLUS, you can look to see if there are other complaints against Vancover Ford on the BBB website as well.

Good luck!

i saw your trans on the bench. those teeth were pretty mangled.

to be honest it did appear to be abuse but if you were in fact just reversing normally the mods had nothing to do with it. (i did not work on your car)

edit: you may want to stop doing things like this if you want drivetrain warranty repairs done.

I hope its a safe assumption here John, but I do believe his issue is from the brand new tranny that didnt see burnouts and cookies. :nice:

its clear the issue was with the replacement trans but it just opens up questions as to how the car is treated. the damage was suck that the cause of the failure couldnt be determined and that video does not work in his favor. (no im not showing it to my boss either. im not like that.) had i known he was bringing it in i would have said bring it to my team when im working. ill always do what i can to help a fellow stangnetter get treated right if they come in. UM being a douche didnt help. i didnt log on for a month or so thanks to him.

for all we know is he dumped the clutch in reverse (ive seen it done. mostly young teens)

The part that I have a problem with is this.

If the dealership first replaced the trans without caring about the mods, and a short while later they care and are refusing the claim, that is wrong. They knew the mods were there in the beginning, and such should have taken care of the problem. That transmission that was installed carried a warranty, and it was not enforced. I would be PI$$ED.

I was around the dealerships long enough to know they call them a "casket trans" for a reason.

My point exactly.

ok sorry guys i had surgury last week so i havn't been on in a while.. lets see if i can chim in on all the questions

as far as the video goes. that was taken months before the first transmission wehnt bad. in fact it didn't even have headers or an intake on it then it was stock other then exaust. i took my car in to v ford at 15k 25k and finally 30k about the transmission problem and they finally found the problem the third time. the 2nd transmission that blew up after 700 miles was vary babyed. my car never went over 3k RPM's when idoling or driving and never driven hard off the line because i was trying to brake it in right. i'm more as pissed that not that the new transmission blew up because accidents happen but that the old one would have lasted me a good 30k miles more (the team told me) before i 'needed" to replace it but they said they would since its under warrenty. then two weeks later after the new one was in they wouldn't replace it even though it was practicly brand new. and if i new i needed to pay for it i would have waited for a while and saved up instead of being hit with a $2500 hudred dollar bill when i just went in for warrenty work (which they still forgot to do) no dumping the clutch, burnoutes, or missuse in any use ext... they car was vary babyed

VR4... I hope you don't take any of this as in insault. i thank you for your insight and help and if i new you worked there i would have deffinitly came to you for help. i have a problem with the delership and not the employee's.. they were mostly helpfull.

Time to do some research on the Magnuson-Moss Act.

As for Vancouver Ford, Ive heard their techs are flat out dishonest. However, Ive had the opposite experience. Before my brand new 2003 FX4 Ranger ever saw 5,000 miles, it had a whining rear end, bad transfer case (when 4x4 engaged, it would pop out, and back into 4x4), and a broken 6 disc CD player. They could not pin point the transfer case problem, so they replaced it. The rear end hadnt blown up yet, but the whine kept getting louder and louder. They replaced it. The 6 disc changer decided to keep 2 of my CDs and would no longer play them. They originally told me they would send it out and I would be without a CD player for a month or so. I grumbled a bit and went on with life. Later that day i went to pick up it up, a brand new CD player had been installed.

63,000 miles now and the truck has been problem free (besides whats been my fault).

I went back recently to test drive an 07 Sport Trac. I was not impressed by the knowledge of their staff or the way they treated me. I had to tell the salesman what kind of engine was in the Ford Edge, he didnt believe me that it was a Duratec, then ate his words as he popped the hood and saw Duratec on the motor. Ive heard many horror stories of how Vanc. Ford has treated customer cars and potential customers.

i was just stating the vid can be used against you. not that you did that and the trans blew up the next day.

PM sent.

Trany

I use to work for a couple different ford dealerships. They tell people there not going to warrenty it because they had mods all the time, and people never really did anything about it. But Ford has to prove that what you did caused the part to fail. Dont give up because its not a closed case, just the service managers not wanting to call Ford and make another claim. I would take it to another dealership too and show them the paperwork that they fixed it 700 miles ago and they might not have anyproblems fixing it.
