I need a new transmission.

I have the t5 in it now, and the bottom set of gears is all broken away.

I found a t5 thats in a foxbody for 575, what would I need to make that work.

I'm pretty broke, so i can't get a brand new t56 or anything.

recommend maybe sites or something that sell rebuilt t5s, if i could find one specifically for the 94-95 years that would be great.

check the classifides over on corral for used ones

if you can turn a wrench and follow directions you can rebuild your own, the T5 isnt difficult at all

d&D performance and astro performance offer rebuild kits/parts

A Fox T5 will work in a 94-95, but as 95trippleblack pointed out, you need to swap the input shaft, or use the Fox bellhousing, clutch fork, and possibly pick up a driveshaft spacer to make up the extra length the driveshaft will need to be. The Fox input shaft is 5/8" shorter than the SN95 T5 input shaft.

nah what is wrong with the tranny is the whole bottom shaft thats just a solid piece with all the gears on it, is that the reverse gear is basically bald.

My father is helping me with this, and hes done this many times, hes an auto tech for 35 years.

every tooth for the reverse gear is basically broken off, i have about 1/4th of the gears I should have.

its also broken on the other set of gears, but i figured that would be decently cheap to replace, compared to buying a new tranny.

everything used for reverse on the tranny is gone, and a couple teeth are chipped on the other gears, from the teeth from reverse flying around.

I was hoping it was a quick fix, but when we ripped apart the tranny, and saw all that, he tried calling up this one person he used to deal with at an old shop, to see if they could hook us up with some prices.

they didn't answer, but I have a feeling, just that main shaft is going to cost alot of money.

hm. I gotta see. i was supposed to talk to the people that my dad used to deal with today, but I got caught up with helping out my brother + work.

The things coming into play that are deciding on whether I'm going to go with a rebuilt t5, vs just getting the parts, is the price.

If the price is right, i'll just rebuild the tranny I have now.

but if the price of the parts I'll need for this working correctly, is too close to the price of a rebuilt tranny, I'll just go with the one from astro, the one for 700.

I am starting a job where I'll be working from 11-5 or so, and I have school from 7 to 1045. and then another job working around 6- 8. time is a big thing deciding where i'm going with this tranny.

especially with the fact i need a vehicle to get to work and school daily and this is my only vehicle.

for now i'm driving the car my brother plans on selling in a week or so.

I would look around....t-5 parts are cheap and very common. I think you could rebuild yours nicely for a couple of hundred dollars. Depending on how many gears are chipped and how badly (whether they need to be replaced or not). I'm sure your dad would know tho since he does this for a living.

called up astro performance today, their tranny is listed as 85-93, but the screen i clicked on said up to 95.

I am hoping that if i just swap the bearing retainer out, that it will work with no problems.

we'll see though.

they are going to call me back i hope soon.'

I called around local junkyards and they are wanting 650 to 800 for the trannys, and the person couldn't get the parts we would need to rebuild mine.

alright update

ordered new gears instead of buying the whole transmission, because the way it would of worked, it would of cost way more then i am looking to spend, for a tranny that wouldn't be much better then the stock.

bought new bearing and syncros and etc, new input shaft, new bearing retainer. new clutch pressure plate, throwout bearing pilot bearing, resurfacing the old flywheel, replacing main seal.

car should be on the road by next weekend.

they are the gears i bought.

i bought the king cobra clutch also.

got my gears, and clutch, bearing retainer didnt show up.

he was saying something about he might not get it till monday, but we wanted everything shipped the same time, just because it doesn't do us much good missing a part that we need to replace.

I'll have to call him up, maybe he did ship it and UPS just forgot to grab that box.

the clutch box was heavier then the gear box, didn't expect that at all,but i guess with the pressure plate it adds up.

stuff i still need for my car:
fog light bulb for one side
rear main seal
tranny fluid.
and then i should be good.
