Having belt issues, can someone measure their stock w/p, idler and tensioner pulleys?

Ive been through so many belt/ pulley configurations with the supercharger/no smog/ short belt and stuff I dont know what is stock anymore on my car. I could have sworn I needed a 89.5 belt but it doesnt fit. I think I have stock pulleys but no smog pump so I need to know what size belt to get. I might still have the vortech waterpump pulley, and my idler and tensioner my be interchanged...so I need to figure out what is which. Can anyone go out and measure the waterpump, idler and tensioner pulleys for me? Thanks guys!

I ran into the same problem with mine. Went through a crap load of belts and couldn't the right one.

Have a friend help you out. If you still have an old one that's too big cut it. If not use a tape measure or string. Have the friend hold the tensioner pulley out like you would to remove the belt. Start up top and route the belt or string through pulleys like you would normally. When you get back to the starting point, mark it and measure your length. From there you should get a very close size to work off.

I used the string and had to get a belt one size longer than the measurement I got.

Some of those pulleys have a lip on them and some did not

so
I tried to give you a measurement that represents the surface the
belt rides on with all three pulleys :)

WP 4 7/8"
I 3 5/8"
T 3 1/8"

It is actually VERY simple. Ive been there. Get as close as you can, then make sure it is within the safety marks on the tensioner. Done deal.

p.s. and no the string method doesn't work.

Hey, I've been having the same problem as you since I've had my vortech on. The fact is..that with the alternator moved in closer, you just can't get enough belt wrap around the alt. pulley.

Here's a fix that worked for me and took all of a couple hours....with breaks in between for forza and guitar hero haha.

I'm assuming you have a vortech, right?

take the belts, supercharger (you don't have to remove the oil lines IIRC), and alternator off. Now pull the bracket off. Remove the tensioner and you will see a nub that sticks out of the tensioner and goes into a slot on the bracket.

Get a 1/2" drill bit and make a whole a little north of that. I put the tensioner on loosely and mocked up where I needed to make the hole. My hole is maybe a lil less that a quarter inch away from the original one. You may have to clearance the bracket a little by one of the bolt holes (no big deal really). I didn't have to but if I had moved it anymore I would have had to.

put the bracket on and then the tensioner. Bolt everything back up and now you have more belt tension around the alternator. Worked like a charm for me. I was going through a belt a month (lifetime warranty haha)...the ppl at pepboys loved me.

EDIT: after re-reading your post....I think my post is moot haha....whoops
