Hey guys. I need a carfax on this Mach, I don't trust the dealers. I've looked at this car twice, been run around by the sales people twice, and now it's price is down significantly (14,999 to be exact). I know it's been lightly hit, and a fender replaced, but it drives nice. It's had it's antenna and rear Mach 1 badge stolen, but those are easy fixes. The motor runs strong as hell, and I want a 4v bad...

Man, that sounds suspicious as hell. A car dealer selling it for that low. Even if it was lightly tapped and a fender replaced, that still seems too cheap for a dealer. I know of a dealership that was trying to sell a Mach for $30K last year, and a guy still bought it with cash in hand. When he got the title it was a salvage title. He demanded his money back.

They originally listed it at 24k, which is average or above around here. they've had it for atleast 4 months, and they're a Nissan dealership. since the car was there, I've seen it twice and not struck a deal. also while there, it's had it's rear decklid Mach 1 logo stolen, and the antenna. The interior is mint save for a bigger black shifter ball, and it has no IUP (which I'm not crazy about, but it's reproduceable). I'm pretty sure it has a Steeda Tri-ax in it like my GT, Definitely an aftermarket clutch, it's heavy and has no travel. 46k miles, rims a little dinged up, new cheapo tires of the right size, the aforementioned fender repairs with slightly off hood gaps, and it has the side window louvers I like that are like 150.00. I have an aftermarket antenna on my car, I have control arms, an Xcal II, a shifter, springs, interior billet. The only thing I couldn't swap is my adjustable clutch setup and my CAI. I'm still not really ready to go for it, I'm just trying to get a better picture of the car overall.

I could also add my Steeda wing painted like the stock (always thought it would look good), some FRs, and then sell my blower for my 2v and get some mod money for more on the Mach. I've just always loved new edge Machs, they're my 2nd favorite style only to the boss cars of the 69-70 production years.

sorry man, no carfax here, but I hope you get the ride. Those are nice vehicles. BTW, why dont you just just take it to your mechanic, or to a service station with a lift. Tell the guy you will give him 10 bucks to raise the car for a minute. Look over the frame real good with a flashlight, and especially up front. Also, look at the little things. Pop the hood and make sure the body lines up inside of there so that everything wasnt shifted over in a wreck. Also, look at the dates of the title of the vehicle. Title scams do go on, even at dealerships.

I hope the car checks out....U dont see 03-04 Machs everyday...Good luck...

BTW, Carfax is important to check, but it doesnt mean much...I have had a couple of cars that had clean carfax's, & Im almost 100% sure those cars had been into fender benders, or hit a curb before or something...There are alot of stangs out there that have been fixed under the table & wouldnt even show up on carfax, plus Mustangs never line up perfect anyway...LOL!!!

But DO get a carfax just to play it safe...LOL!!!

What color is it BTW?

Jackie, you can kiss my 'cheap ass.' I probably make and spend more in 6 months than you do in a year. I'm asking for a favor rather than paying for a service I won't use. So, STFU! unless you have something useful to add.

Now, for all the useful (meaning everyone but jackass chan) people in this post:
I've thought about it, and I don't think I'm going to go after the car. My 04 is nearly mint, I already have a roots blower in the shed, and by the time I'm done, it's going to run circles around a stock or mild Mach (no offense to Mach owners, I still love 'em.) I know the Mach is more capable in the long run, but my end goal is around 400 RWHP or so, and the GT is more than able to get there over time. I don't need to take it in the shorts for my car's value (I just got it in april) just to get into a Mach when I can build a one-off GT with the retro elements I like in a Mach and more power and handling with the money I won't lose. The only real differences that matter in my case are the 4v and the shaker. A roots-blown 2v will definitely get my power levels up into the area I want, and the shaker is an $800 add-on I could get. Even then, I'm debating a shaker vs. a cowl hood, because the shaker is for and belongs on a Mach. I don't want people to think my GT is a Mach when it isn't. The gears are moot, I'm going for 3.73s either way, and the suspension mods I'd do, along with aftermarket rims and interior I have planned, are pretty much the same for a GT or Mach. I just don't see enough gain to go through the hassle. Anyway, thanks for the input for those who had something worthwhile to say.
