I figured I would go ahead and post what I have done so far. All I have for now is a cruddy camera phone, I will try to get something better soon.

That's it so far. More pictures (hopefully better ones) to come soon. I'm also going to turn down the resolution to make them more viewable.

I hope your plan includes a cardboard hood scoop delete LOL.

What is your plan for the car? What motor, suspension, etc...?

I made the scoop from a sheet of aluminum. I have another hood if I decide not to use it.
It is getting the 5.0 HO out of my 91 thunderbird. Suspension upgrades will be light at first. Later on I will stiffin the suspension and add structural improvements to the body.

cenok is family:
are you serious? wtf is that scoop?!

The scoop *is from the cars 4-cyl days. I still like it and so far have no plans to do away with it. This car is not will not ever be meant for 'show'. It is a beast of pure function that will not have even the most basic luxury or comfort. Think "Mad Maxx"

If i had to take a guess i would say the car had a turbo 2.3 in it at one point (now that i look again, it has a 2.3 in it in one of the pics)...as that's the typical spot to put a scoop to feed cold air to the intercooler if it had the Turbo Coupe intercooler on it. I know a guy who built a coupe like this and he had a ghetto scoop like that, but it was just for fun and the car eventually ran 14.20s for next to nothing spent.

Looks good. Are you doing a two tone white and black, or is that just for now?

It could very well end up that way. I haven't decided on a top color yet, but I am surely leaving the bottom with the rubber undercoat. It will most likely end up being two toned white black because I am already almost in love with the look. It will be either that or all black with red trim, but that would look VERY Darth Vadar-ish.

Okay, to each his own, but my 2 cents, if you like a hood scoop please get a real one, that one looks very tacky. But, if you like it, keep it, it is your car after all.

Well I do appreciate your input. But like I say, this car is Function over form. This scoop works as well as any I could purchase. Remember that this cars interior is FINISHED in that pic down there. Only think lacking is a flat panel for gauges, a steering wheel, and a seat or two.

What color did you paint the engine bay? Why not paint it the color of the car? Just wondering.

Its not just paint, it's rubberized undercoating. The color is black, and will be a bit flatter than it appears in the pic, as it is still wet there.

I chose to do this because it will resist rust for the life of the car, and should oil start to leak anywhere, it will match :)

It looks like it's a bit cold where you live already....just be aware that rubberized undercoating will soften and get sticky as hell on a good hot summer day. In extreme cases i've even seen it almost rub off.
