So my Capri caught fire today....

I started to madly scoop dirt on mine until it burned out. melted some wires and killed my alt, but everything else was ok. I even had a concerned co worker stop by to laugh at me.
he gave me a ride home though so all was forgiven. he gets an e-cookie.

Not in the car, at the moment. I used to carry one around in the notch all the time, starting the day the fuel injectors first started slobbering fuel (before I replaced all 8 of 'em). Knowing my luck, the one time I go around without one will be the same time my car decides to sprout a huge fuel leak and burst into flames. :nonono:

the one i have is somehow empety?

whats the best kinda to get? ABC?

im gonna go pick one up after school...to many people are saying there stangs have caught fire..i dont wanna be one of em.

ABC's the way to go for most extinguishing purposes.

Just don't waste your time with those decorative chrome-plated APC brand extinguishers. They're so freakin' small, they could barely put out a candle - you can only cram so much material into a canister that tiny. Just get a regular, fair-sized ABC-rated extinguisher that has a wall mount on it, and either bolt it up somewhere in your car or just stash it somewhere you can get to it easily in an emergency - wedged under the back of your front seat(s), perhaps.

k ill do that!

I have had a valve cover leak and oil gather in the header flange area and ingnite. It was a special feeling when I saw fire and smoke under the hood. To be honest, I thought to myself I have full coverage, what do I do? I was really hating my car at that moment.

wow... i caught my car on fire.... turns out even with header wrap an oily rag on the header will catch fire haha... only time i actually had to use my fire extinguisher that i keep in my car

same thing happened to my friend, one time he barely pulled the trigger on the extinguisher, for a split second it went off and he stopped, thinking nothing of it. I told him not to do it, so a couple months later we're running around the shop looking for one and it's empty..one short blast will bleed out the pressure over time. When that happens unscrew the tops and dump the powder on the flames

I have had a fire extinguisher in my vehicles since 1987. Main reason was it looked good at car shows, the safety issue.

So far I have had to use one twice. Once was on a girls Firebird that she had flooded out and caught fire on the headers. Turns out that I have been married to that girl now for 14 yrs :)

The other time was at one of our car cruises. The guy had an older cougar and it caught fire under the hood. Popped the hatch on the stang, grabbed the exstinguisher and had it out in seconds.

I have one in the car and also mounted in the garage.
