Rear Brake Help!

My driver's side rear brake is grinding and I know I'm gonna have to replace the rotors and pads. Question though. Do the rear rotors have a inner drum for the e-brake and if so, anyone have any tips on the best way to remove the rotors. My wife's explorer had them and it took forever to get them off and it wasn't till after we got them off and broke the drum shoes on the inside of the rotor, that we figured out why we were having so much trouble.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!:nice:

No inner drum, just the caliper that serves as both the regular, and emergency brakes. The rotor should come off once the caliper is removed.

Edit: By the way, welcome to :SNSign:

One other thing to watch out for is that the rear mustang caliper (at least on my wifes 2000 v6 convertible) pistons need to be rotated as you compress them - it isn't like the ordinary pistons that can be reseated with a C-Clamp. I used a needle nodes pliars to do mine - I think there is a special tool you can get at most car shops for this but I didn't have the patience :)
Also, make sure to clean the new rotors off with brake cleaner spray before installing
Also, make sure to bleed the brakes
Also, make sure to seat the pads properly - do 5 or 6 60mph to 10mph brake runs and then let them cool off for an hour or so (read about this in a performance mustang book by sean hyland but have not had a chance to do it myself yet).

Good luck!

I got the brakes all done. Thanks for the help. I got them done in about 6 1/2 hours doing them by myself. I had done them before on my 98 mustang so I was somewhat familiar with them but this was the first time I'd done them by myself. Ah....no more grinding and people staring everytime I touch my brakes.
