Inside of IAC...looks like???

okay...

who here has taken their IAC off and looked at it??? I just had a fellow stangnet member come over and swap his IAC over to my engine to see if it would fix my idle issues...it didn't...but long story short...

when I looked in the open hole (that would generally face the throttlebody)...his IAC had a small cylinder w/ a spring around it. When I look in the same hole on mine...it is not there. Is it supposed to be, or was this simply because he had a different model IAC on his car (his was a 99 and mine is an 02 so his IAC was smaller)

any help would be greatly appreciated

There should be a 'cylinder' w/ a spring or just a 'cylinder' with no spring. I've seen both. I haven't ever seen one without it until the above picture. Strange ...

The other side has a cylinder w/ no spring...and I can move it back and forth slightly...the one on the '99 motor had a similar part on that side too...it is just wierd that his also had the spring side where mine doesn't

I will try to find time to take a picture but it may be later
