Value of Boss 429 engine

I just finished a full blown restoration on my 70 Boss 9. It was a rude awakening for me when I went to find just a few parts that were missing. I was lucky that the expensive parts were intact with my engine. I found that the carburator is worth $5K that oil pan is worth $5K and the aircleaner is worth about $4K for a fairly nice one and how about $900 for a nice dipstick. Sure you may say these parts can't possibly be worth so much! Try to find them when you really need them and they are worth what the other guy wants for them. I spend $40K restoring my car and this is not including the labor which was done myself. The Boss 9 has 300 unique parts, try to find a bargain on them. JByrd.

Kinda off the sublect of the boss engine but how much should one expect to pay for a used 289 (2barrel carb) with tranny?

used 289 2 bbl ? Not more than $100 Unless you're looking for specific date coded stuff. Then what you're willing to pay is your decision.

If you don't have to have the correct engine for your application a 302 might be easier to find. I can't speak for every place in the US but where I live the 289s are pretty scarce.
