Has anyone had experience installing an aftermarket stereo in place of the ole "Skipper 500"? How do you re-connect the Sub woofer amp? The new unit has pigtail connections with rca jacks.

Installed Alpine 9885 on Friday

Didn't do it myself. I had a very reputable Orlando car audio company install. Took them less than an hour.

Unit has great MP3, home burned disk play ability - unlike the Shaker 1000. More sub controls... rather than low, low and louder.

Red and Blue color scheme on the new head unit compliment the blue/red instrument cluster nicely.

Roughly $420.00 out the door, including iPod connect in glovebox.

Installers said it is easy, simple harness - I hate the idea of breaking a dash panel or it not going back the way it came, let a pro do it.

Did a break job earlier in the week, give me a break :)

you need a line output converter. its a little block that has rca inputs on one end and regular speaker wires on the other. i just replaced my alpine head unit for a double din jvc, which btw is the best!!!!:nice:

Do you have pics, i have the alpine cda 9983 (im think im at work so cant check), but that extra pocket is just and eye sore, i want something to fill it and a double din would be great to have in there ! (sorry to jack the thread guys)

THANKS FOR THE INFO. I GOT THE RIGHT WIRE HARNESS FROM CRUTCHFIELD AND INSTALLED BUT THE SUBS DON'T WORK, AS FARE AS I CAN TELL FROM THE FORD WIRING SCHEMATIC THE SUB AMPS ARE POWERED SEPERATELY FROM THE RADIO. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Call Crutchfield Tech Support, they will surely help you. My buddy used to be one there.
