i think you are hung up on this amp thing and its not the issue. if the f150 unit that was in there was working on 2 plugs then he only needs those two for this deck to work. ford has had some funky odd ball connectors, ive done tons of them and have had to go back for a new harness quite a few times. have you been pulling on the wires at all? done anything with the speakers? im wondering if one of the speaker wires has worn through causing a short on a pice of metal in the car. that would put it in a protect mode asap i would think.

its got keenwood speakers in it.

Are you using a test light? Did you bump 2 wires together by accident? I have had that exact same thing happen to me before. I personally think you are wiring it wrong (could be new wires spliced into the car and different colors) and are frying your stereos.

yes ive used a test light, yes i have and i poped a fuse, thing is is ive had it wired by a guy who dose this for a living and he couldnt get it to work either, it wired right i know this for a fact, ive tried 2 different headunits different brans, we tried a JVC unit my buddy had sitting around...and the same thing pop nonthing else.

i have power to the the power then the memeroy power to the memry power the only thing that is no hooked up is the power ante, dimmer, power count. (whatever that is) and ant count...it said these are not used.

:bang:

its wired right, ive tried using them other wires and still nonthing ive tried wiring if different ways and still nonthing, ive had my buddy look at it who is really good with electircal as he put them in every car he has ever had ( 5 of them ) and he gets the same....

I haven't read through the whole thread, but if you're convinced its not the amp did you try:

1) where's the popping coming from? Front left? Front Right? Rear left? Rear Right?
2) If its coming from the front, disconnect the fronts and try hooking the just the rears up. If the rears work while they are plugged into the "rear" on the deck, try hooking it up to the "front" output on the deck.

If someone already posted this, i apologize. If not, give that a try and let us know how it goes.

Wirings a pain, but doing it half-ass is even worse, and with sound it will cause interference if you dont connect them properly.

I agree though, now that you've got problems, git er working then go back and solder your connections.

pop from all speakers, ive tried just hooking up fronts and the rear and even just one at a time still get the same thing?

Wow I seriously don't Know why we even try to help you if all you tell me is to shut the **** up.

I had the same exact thing with my JVC headunit, then I put my kenwood in and guess what?? Same thing!!! Obviously if the wiring is correct, the stock HU works, but several aftermarket ones don't work you have the amp still hooked up or are too lazy to wire it correctly.

Again, unless you're going to use the correct harness adapters, you WILL have to run all-new wiring straight from the head unit to all of your speakers to make this work. That's all there is to it. So, either crawl under there and hunt ALL up under the dash for that loose connector pigtail thingymabob for the amp and plug that into a proper adapter harness, or spend a few bucks on some extra speaker wire and run that straight from the head unit to all of your speakers and just ignore the stock connectors.

Sup ryan, This is what you need to overcome this task,
1 test light, (check all fuses in the fuse panel, if some dont work turn on head lights etc)
fuses
wire nuts(they help eliminate the possibility of a loose wire or something grounding out)
Thats it, your all home free from there..

I havent kept in touch with this thread much, But i read that another head unit worked on your car.. is this true?

Did you try your head unit on a friends car?/ did you sniff out the back of the head unit, something could be fried

Has your cars wireing been tamperd with at all? ( i know in my car, the head unit was shorted out because the guy wired the radio to the harness off the alarm)..

Use process of elimination, first see if your radio works, take it to a store and ask them to test it,

Well Ryan, I just got my install harness kit (its just like yours) and the install face plate in the mail. I hooked it all up and all my speakers work. I had already completely removed my premium sound harness as I posted before.

You must have a short some where in the wiring at the plugs. If the stock radio works then it has to be either the radio or the wiring at the plugs.

If you want to drive over to Indy I can help you LOL

Hey Ryan, The blue wire your hooking up in the picture. What is it going to? Do you have a power ant? If you do not have a power ant or an aftermarket amp You do not need to hook up any remote wires or power ant wires. Just cap em off.

this is the 2nd headunit.....im not spending 20 bucks to have a place test it, im gonna mess with it some tuesday afternoon.

i know for a FACT that the harness from the head unit to the car is hooked up right, ive had 3 people look at it and try it and they got the same thing.

then tell you what tell me how to do it...EXACTLY how you want me to try it, ill try it then come back and tell you that it didnt work

DO TELL!

somone got a picture of the factory amp? ive looked for a nything and everything bolted to the floor behide the radio and all i see is a metal brace...then carpet then the heater box! i know its not big but i dont see anything, when i had the dash out i looked and didnt see anything either!

im going to go to wally world after school and look at the other harness you speak off, i dont see how it is going to help me if i dont have anything to hook it up too though!

That funny looking U-shaped bracket you're seeing on the tranny hump is where the amp would have been, if it were still in place. It's gone, obviously, but the connectors for it *SHOULD* still be in there somewhere, probably tucked up under the dash somewhere. Keep looking, dude. You'll find it...

:bang: ill look again. when i had the dash out for heather core i didnt see any stray wires!

Might be off to the driver's side. I can't remember which side mine came off of when I did the '89 notch. If you can find the big fat main wiring bundle, just follow that and you might find it coming off there someplace nearby. It was kinda far back there, as I remember it ... although it's been a couple of years since I first put a stereo in that car...

you have something funny going on and i doubt its the twist and tape of the wires. if you do it right you will have no problems, ive done that on tons of systems and have never had an issue with any of them, flavadave can vouch for it. solder is the way to go though.

if you dont have an amp in there, get a multi meter and check for shorts. the only thing i can think of that would cause a pop, then nothing would be a short/ground issue.
