post it.

Only personal eperiences with the car, with you behind the wheel or a close friend with many miles. Fit, finish, handling, etc. I've done a bit of work on them that I will post later, but wanted to know TRUE OPINIONS or UNBIASASED, or as CLOSE to UNBIASED STANGNET MEMBERS here

This is meant to be an informative thread from those that have personal experience with time in the car, not subjective opinions. Thanks

My best friend had a '99 Vette (hardtop, 6spd). I drove it a couple times. At the time i had a '95 Z28 and of course was comparing the two. The Vette seemed to feel like a better handling, faster Camaro, but nothing real special. Interior fit and finish is ok, but had some rattles and felt a little clunky over bumps in the road. Last year he traded it in for a '99 Carrera, and that thing felt quicker and handled like it was on rails compared to the C5 to be honest. I've been in love with Porsches ever since driving his. :D

C5 is a great car. I love corvettes but I will admit the interior is not the greatest at all. Its pretty much like any american car. real placticy. they improved though with the c6. handles great, ls1 so a strong motor light weight car. And if you get bored with one just slap a lingenfelter package on there and let her rip some 9s in the 1/4.

overall its a great car.

I have a C4. Does that count?

A buddy of mine had a 04 zo6, which until he drove into an iron fence was one of the best cars to ever drive in. He got an 03 50th anniversary z06 after the wrecked one, and I've been impressed with it everytime I run him, and/or ride in it. Dollar for dollar it is better than any performance car (z06) it really is a "supercar". If you guys ever get a chance to check it out, there a guy in the Chicago area (spdkilz.com) and he's got a pretty sick z06. check it out.

I bought a 99 FRC new in 99. It was a spectacular car, fast, comfertable and handled like it was on rails. The active stability program saved my arse a couple times. I had it in Competition mode at the drags (turns traction controll off but leaves stability on) and b/c of bad imbalance in tire pressure I lit them up shifting to third and sent the car completly sideways, I froze :nonono:, fortunatly the computer took over ant the car almost completly righted itself before I snapped out of it to finish putting it back in the lane. Everybody thought I was this baddass driver because of the save ,but it was the car. The interior is way too cheap for a 50K car, and the shifting is vague at best (tranny is in the rear). The gauges were first rate and I got it to 160 a couple times and it was glued to the road. Then it averaged 28 mpg to boot:nice: I put 15K on it then I sold it to dad and he kept it till the magnasteer broke. He has also driven my 03 Cobra that I sold the Vette for and now has some money comming and is gonna buy a Termi instead of another Vette. I also own a Cobra now and for some strange reason like it more too. The Vette has alot of technology and is a killer car, but I still prefer a Cobra:shrug: The thing to look out for on them is the Magnasteer problem and the D.I.C. going out. They also get alot of rattles after 20K miles. You can get a used 99-00 FRC for the same price as a 03-04 Cobra and the Cobra has alot more potential and is cheeper to fix and maintain. Automatic Vetts dont even have dipsticks. The manuel says you should never have to check it and if its low take it to a dealership cause something is wrong.

c5's meaning the early 90's style??? they are slower than crap! 11's in the 1/8th mile! Last time i went to the track i was beating the snot out of them with my thunderbird!

I've been in and drove quite few friends' and familes' C5s and C6 and of course the C6 blows the C5 out of the water... I almost bought a C6 :(

The truth is I think the C5 interior looks cheap and outdated. The car drives and rides good but it still isn't that muscle car feel I like. The car doesn't pull like my car or say a cobra does. You know you are going fast but it just doen't fell like it and I dont like that. That really goes for a C6 also.

Would I trade my car for a C5, no I wouldnt. A C5Z MAYBE but not a base C5, now a C6 yes and a C6Z HELL YES.
