18s or 20s???

im in serious consideration for new wheels. but cant decide on whether i want 18s or 20s. they will more than likely be staggered 10" in rear and 8.5" or 9" in the front. what im wanting to know is if there will be any rubbing issues in the front with the 20" wheel. if so what can be done to correct it. should i be looking for a certain offset or what for the front. also has anyone had any experience, good or bad from wheel replicas as far as ordering from them and customer support. thanx in advance. :SNSign:

My vote is always for 18's. 20's and higher make the car look like a toy. They're fine for show, I suppose. But if you show me the same car with 18's, I'll always prefer the one with 18's. Plus they're cheaper and you won't add unnecessary weight. As long as you get wheels that are made for 2005+ Mustangs, you'll be fine (with 18's or 20's).

A little bias comarison. Dark cars always look better with chrome wheels...period. Not to mention those tires on the car on the bottom look far too narrow for the wheel.

Some cars just look right with big wheels.

I say if you're going with a plain jane, "all business in a strait line" look, then stick with the 18's. If you're going for a more show inspiring, "handles like it's on rails" look, go with 20's.

Or, you could always split the difference and get 19's.

I know what you mean. But I still think 18's look better than 20's. Those cars do look good, but would look better with 18's. Everyone is certainly entitled to their own opinion, but when I compare the 2, the 18's always come up the winner.

I say 18 although 20's look O.K. on the s197 as long as you have supporting cosmetical mods like a eleanor bodykit etc.

The white mustang that gearbanger put up above looks at home with those rims. It has the supporting mods to pull the look off. So does the blue shelby.

I still say 18's though, cheaper, lighter, probably hook better.

I gotta go 20's also, but I was also lookin into 22" Torq-Thrusts they just look too big though. I know what you mean though about certain cars only needing to have a certain wheel. I think my New Edge car would just look stupid with anything bigger than 18's and 17's on a Fox look just about perfect. I want to find a nice 20" Thrust wheel that doesn't have those rivets made into it. I just want a nice charcoal gray spoked 20x10/20x9 kit and can't find one besides Am. Racing that cost a fortune............Anyone?

I think 18's look too small and have 20's. When it comes to paying for the tires, the 18's win though!

20's over 18's all day if you can afford it. There are so many lightweight options available plus 20's allow enough sidewall on your tires to maintain a respectable level of ride comfort as well. Don't be fooled by some of these ultra conservative all-go, no-show muscle car freaks and baby boomer Mustang cornballs who still think 14" Cragar 5 stars are the cats meow.

The 2nd car isn't even a GT plus it features one of the softest colors available on the Mustang and it still looks better! But at least compare apples to apples my friend. How about posting 2 GT's, one with 18's razors and another with 20" razors. The difference is considerable.

I'm no show? Have you looked at my signature? Really? Dubs belong on donks and whips. That's all I'm saying. And your arguement is that one is a GT and one is a V6 and the colors are different? Come on. Yes, it comes down to personal preference. But more people will say 18's than 20's.

I kinda of have to agree. To me the 18's look really disproportioned almost as if the wheel is as wide as it is tall, or maybe its the deep dish that throws it off. Either way the wheel looks to small for the wheel well.

Case in point - have you seen the 18" Razors vs. the 20"s. The 18's look ridiculiously small.

I can't justify myself to spend extra $$$ to get a wheel 1" larger in dia. from what came standard from the factory (at least on mine). If your going to do it go w/ the 20"s

the black gt500 posted by 01-0471 doesnt look donk. i see alot of meat on those tires. thats the look im going for if i chose to go 20s. i guess the deciding factor for me would be tire costs. but you guys with the 20s, do they rub at all?
