So here's a shot in the dark... I know that there aren't many people running T-56's in their classics on the board here. I recently came across a deal on a D&D Performance T-56 kit intended for a '79-'93 Fox body that I couldn't pass up.

The kit includes a couple parts I know I can't use in my '67 Coupe: 50oz flywheel and crossmember for sure... So I plan on trying to sell these to the 5.0 guys, hopefully.

My question is does anyone have any clue if the drive shaft included in the kit will work? From what I've read stock Fox body drive shafts are shorter than stock classic drive shafts. I am questioning if it will fit because I'm hoping the T-56's increased length and the fact that I'm running a 9" rear end will make up the difference...

I would just measure and / or try to install it to answer my own question, but the engine, trans, and rear are not yet installed in the car and won't be for some time...

HELP... :hail2:

For anyone interested, I heard back from D&D Performance and they said the drive shaft is going to be too long and will need to be shortened. Better too long than too short is what I always say. :nice:

The only thing that concerns me is that D&D also said that you don't have to do any transmission tunnel mods when putting a T-56 in a '67... Which we all know isn't true, so I am not sure how much experience they have with T-56's and classics.

I'll update when everything gets put in the car just for anyone else that may find themselves in my shoes in the future...

Post the length of the driveshaft. There are a few running around here with a T56.

The shaft is exactly 44 inches from center to center of the u-joint arms attached directly to the shaft itself. I measureed by the clips that hold the joint in place, if that makes any sense...

I can get other measurements if someone is willing to help.

Just as clarification it's for a '67 coupe with a T-56 trans and 9" rear.

Thanks!
