There is no real difference between a regular GT and a Shelby GT. If you're wondering for a Shelby GT, all it would be is for bragging rights. Not the most powerful 3V out there, though.

Nice? $9,000 extra gives you about an extra 25 or so horsepower at the wheels..BEautiful car, I have the Shelby grill and hood pins..If you have money to blow and want the nostalgia factor, thats ur car..I know what i did to my car with $9,000..427 rwhp, and a better handling car than the Shelby..to each his own i guess..

there is a big difference, suspension, cold air kit, catted x pipe, hurst short throw shifter, 3:55 gears and shelby tune. so like i was asking if anyone had some nice #'s on a 07 shelby gt???

Dude it's not a big difference unless you are refering to the price. It's a GT fitted with some expensive FRPP bolt-ons parts 325 hp at the crank. I am at about $2100 in mods right now, and I have better performing car for less money.

$2100 Got me...
Steeda Tri-Ax
Pypes Violator Cat Back with emissions legal x pipe
Pypes off-road x pipe
C&L Racer CAI with SCT hand held tuner and Brenspeed tunes
BMR Lowering kit + BMR LCAs

I am about to get a set of COMP Cams for $640 and Ill still be sitting under 3k with about 320 at the wheels.

I am just not impressed by the Shelby GT. Yes I have driven one and it was going for 34k and didnt have any of the interior package or leather stiched dash etc that I have. My GT was LOADED and I got it for 26ish. Ford overprices their bolt on packages first of all, second you are paying for a name. I'd rather pay for performance.

How do you have emissions legal and off-road X-pipe? :D Just giving you a hard time, I'm assuming you ended up putting the off road pipe on.

I think the Shelby GT just looks much more badass than the regular GT. Factor in some of the appearance stuff, it makes it seem a bit more reasonable. Plus, you still have a complete factory warranty. You can get away with basically everything you have there with little problem, but once those cams are in, its over.

Either way, to ME, the Shelby GT isn't worth the extra money. That's why I backed out of buying one of those and got my 08 GT instead. I love the car, and think it looks completely badass, but I couldn't personally justify the extra $5k it would've cost me.

The Shelby GT is just a tarted up Mustang GT with Shelbys name.
The amount of power on any modded 3 valve will not be affected by the Shelby GT standard options because those would mostly be gone on a well modded Shelby GT.

i want to thank everyones input, i was simply asking this to maybe make a claim that a friend of mine has a 07 shelby gt (not a 500 ) with 525 wrhp through a catted x pipe using a shelby (paxton) blower.

list of mods aside from shelby stuff

dynomax ultraflow axle back
dynomax mandrel bent pipes
shelby blower (paxton) 11 lbs pulley
x-2 programmer tuned
jba shorty headers
charge motion delete plates

here is a vid when he first got it

My 07 Gt came with 3.55 gears, and a demolet cai and sct xcal-2 tune got me
30rwhp for only $500. This mod alone makes more power than the Shelby GT

My suspension( bilstein shocks/struts, ford k-springs, maximum motorsports caster/camber plates, billet aluminum lower control arms with relocation brackets and a j&m upper control arm) cost me$1500

And full exhuast (Kooks longtube headers, x-pipe with high flow cats, and rs axleback exhuast) cost me $1200

So for around $3200 my car has all the same mods(except better ones imho), still at least $5k less than what i see shelby GT's going for.

I'd say unlikely that he is making that much power. With 11 lbs of boost, the theoretical maximum is 525 horsepower at the crank. Thats with 100% blower efficiency which you'll never come close to seeing. I think normal efficiencies are ballpark 50%. The other mods wouldn't be able to come close to making up that difference.

Edit: I just realized (several hours later) my theoretical maximum claims were completely off. I am not even going to try to attempt to correct the number since my logic for the previous claim was grossly flawed. I still stand by my doubts of 525 RWHP with those mods though.

All the slightly negative SGT remarks aside (I completely understand its not for everyone, heck its probably only for a small minority, but to us its where its at), I've talked to quite a few SGT owners mostly with the Whipple blower. They seem to be laying down anywhere between 457 & 493rwhp.

I've yet to have mine dyno'ed. Once I do I'll let you know. Plans at the same time include full exhaust and custom tune so that probably won't happen until the spring time, but sooner than later for certain. I'm actually pondering a 'de-tune' to bring the power level to a more safe range (is there such a thing?) so I'll just have to wait and see what happens.

PM me for more info.

As for the value of the SGT the sum of its parts vs the price certainly don't add up really well, I'll be the first in line to admit that. However the synergy, the balance, and looks that the car has is unmatched IMHO. Of course, I am a bit biased... :D

No question the car is wicked sexy..I have a Gt500 next to a Shelby GT(both Vista blue) on my showroom..its no contest..Hell I just recieved my Shelby hood pins, and i already have the front grill on..That being said..$9,500 plus whatever the dealer marks it up is just too much money..If you have the $$, its all relative i guess..I paid 22k for my car w/1,200 miles on it and 3 months old w/ a window sticker of 31,500...About $10,000 later, which would put me at 32,000, still about 8,000 under the Shelby..About 150 or so more flywheel horsepower, better handling, and close on the looks dept... just my 2 pennies..

You can never compare a used car to a new car in terms of value. Used car prices fluctuate so much, as demonstrated by your purchase. 22k for a 3 month old car is insanely underpriced.

That does bring up another point in favor of the Shelby - resale value. All the Shelby GT's on autotrader are listed for $31,900 or more. Some are listed at $35k or more still. Given that a patient shopper could've found one for $34k new, thats saying something that you'll never be able to with a regular Mustang GT, let alone one in which you've poured thousands of dollars in modifications.

It helps that im the sales manager for a Ford dealership:nice: I caught the Vovlo store down the street a sleep when they called me to put a number on it..lol..so i bought it..

Even if you got a dealership to give you the car @invoice plus the $9,000 that Shelby charged the dealership, 34,000 is not possible..Dead nut memo on mine is just over 36,000..(net net net on the car is 28,800 plus the shelby up fit cost of 8,000 or so minus any rebates that are on it..the math doesnt add up..:nono:
And no dealership that I know will sell the car for invoice plus the Shelby cost..

I was quoted under invoice plus Shelby cost. Came to $35k and some small change. Dealers had a difficult time selling the Shelby GT. There are currently three (2 black, 1 white) NEW 2007 Shelby GT's on ebay with buy it now prices $31,999, $32,909, and $33,900.

ahh..07..I have an 08 here..there are acouple dealers around here that have auto 07's and cant sell them..
I cant speak for ebay, but cost is cost..and a net net deal on an 07 or 08 Shelby is still more than those ebay quotes..if those are accurate then the mustang they upfitted had an invoice of $24-25k..a deluxe.. Shelby charges $9,000 or so to the dealers for the upfit..the math doesnt make sense...

I enjoy my Shelby GT and never would have bought a run-of-the-mill mustang GT. There are just too many of them. Sure I am still driving a Mustang and sure there are minor differences. However, Shelbys are the ones going for 600k thousand on the auction block, not normal Mustang GTs (the first Shelby GT went for that amount). I like the heritage and nostalgia tied into the name. I still plan to mod it to death.

Showngo50, direct this question to TeamShelby.com they should be able to help.

God Bless,
