In need of help... Cam issues

So I know this question has been asked on here a million times. I hit the search button on here and on www.mustangforums.com, but didnt come up with any good ideas. I want to get a new cam for my car, but so far havnt found exactly what I've been looking for. This is my setup i have right now.

Basically, the car was dynoed before I bought it. It put 280 to the wheels. The power starts dropping off at about 5200. I need a cam that will pull up to 6500 to match the powerband of my Typhoon intake, preferably without having to notch my pistons. I drive the car daily and race at the local 1/8th mile every weekend. I currently have 4.30's but want to switch to 3.73's. Here are the cams that I have been considering...

How do these choices look? The crower cam is pretty darn expensive at about $340, while the X-303 comes in about $175. I've been told to stay away from the ABC cams, not that they are bad, but b/c dual pattern cams have newer technology.


I am eventually going to sell the AFR 165's and get a set of 185 stud mounts, and build a 347 shortblock.

Advancing the camshaft will pull the RPM powerband down.

For $325 you can get you a CUSTOM camshaft meant for your goals and combination of parts. It will out power, have better driveability, vacuum at idle, and give you a broader powerband for even cheaper than that Crower.

It will out run and out drive the camshafts you have mentioned.

Expect to buy some new valve springs to go with the camshaft.

Yeah, i was checking out FTI cams. They are a little pricey, but worth it from what I can see. The only thing is, I would hate to get a custom made cam for the setup I have now, then only to have to change it when I get a new setup. Eventually, I would like to build a 347 stroker with either Canfields, or AFR 185's. Who knows, what I want to do with my car changes everyday...
 
I would go custom, Camshaft Innovations. The cost is more than worth it, when you don't need it anymore sell it. Your combo is pretty common for the most part and should not be hard off load it.
