You shouldn't have to push the gas pedal to get it started. That's a habit brought from carbureted cars.

Does the car crank for a long time before starting, but it usually starts after awhile? If so, I'd suspect the fuel pump or a clogged fuel filter.
 
A vacuum leak if its big enough will do that too. I had the EXACT problem with the 90 after we first got it, and it turned out to be a vacuum line off the plenum was broken.

Just a suggestion, check your vacuum lines, they cost nothing to check, and if that is it, its a lot cheaper than changing a fuel pump and still having the problem.
 
that looks like your charcoal canister and that wouldnt have anything to do with your car not starting. all that thing is is it absorbs the vapors from the fuel system/tank.

It will if one of those vacuum lines goes to a vacuum source (ie: intake). Thats the hose that was causing my 90 to do the exact same thing, but I'm not sure it goes to the intake on your car like it did my 90.

I tell you what, I have a 96 V6 (for 5 lug fox swap) that I will go look at tomorrow and see if any hoses go to the intake. If they do I'll let you know so you can repair it and see if your problem goes away.
 
Actually, I remember now, for that charcoal canister to work properly, it has to have a vacuum line from a vacuum source. It stores the vapors from the tank, and then when you start the car up, it sucks those vapors into the engine, and eventually out the exhuast.

So you might check and see if any of your existing lines go to a vacuum source, if not, then the broken one has to.

I will still look at that car tomorrow for you anyway.
 
Follow this hose down to that vapor canister. If its broken or cracked, thats your problem. Its the one in my hand, and it goes to the vapor canister purge solenoid, then to the canister.

or a quick way to check is to just plug that vacuum line with a screw. if it still does it then thats not your problem which i highly doubt it is... you can either cap it where you found it not hooked up, or straight off the intake mani like in the pic...
 
yeah i went outside today and pluged it and it had no effect and also i started it up today which it only took me about 3 hours to do so and it started but like i said in my other post i have to stay on the gas to keep it running but today i tryed to rev it up and it boged out and died its never done that before, would the ground from the motor to the frame have any effect like that?
 
if its spinning the motor then no. youre just having problems trying to get the thing to fire. what does your oil smell like?? does it have a hint of gas smell to it?? if so id say check your injectors and orings to make sure none of that is leaking. the easiest thing to do would be to just change your fuel filter. or better yet, take the pressure line off the rail and turn the key to the on position. see if you get any fuel. i would do that first. then go from there.
