Good idea!!! That's what I do best!
Where are you getting the most of your customers? From the yard or eBay, local classifieds?
Good idea!!! That's what I do best!
I work at the yard that my Dad owns. I have 11 fox bodies in the yard. Some are pretty picked at some have more stuff. I stash hard to find parts and have multiples of everything. I don't let people see any of it, because the possiblility of midnight shoppers. Here is what I pull most money out of.
5.0L alternator brackets....75 bucks...(I bought two at a swap meet once for 5 dollars....sold them for 75 EACH!!!)
ANY black interior parts
Any color seats...100 bucks a peice
GT tail lights...135 each shipped.
LX tails....75 each, 85 shipped.
GT rear bumper covers!!!!...Haven't had one it years...got 350 for the last one.
V8 T-5....650 to 750 all day
V8 T-5 bell housing...75-100 bucks
Manual shifter boot...75 bucks...can't keep them in stock
87-93 Conv top....got 450 (no canvas for the last one) 550 with good canvas shipped to Minnesota.
Conv rear seat belts...65 each.
Conv front seat belts 100 each.
Cowl panels. 75 each....got that for the last 3.
I know my prices are sky high, but I have no problem getting it. That's why I buy everyone I see. I try to hit swap meets, but I don't have enough time to drive 50-100 miles away to where they are.
Anybody know what the 70mm MAF's for 19 pounders come off of??
How about those 65-73 Mustang rear disc conversion parts? Like these:

you all should settle down...supply and demand supply is low he can sell them high!.
also prices vary where you live.
you try buying parts at those prices. oh wait you dont have a job nvm. there is never an excuse for price gouging.
for those prices I could hit 50resto and get new stuff.
on a happy note pick n pull had a 5spd 4banger that only had 40k miles on it before it got totaled from the rear. I grabbed the shifter boot, shift knob, and the black trim for 10.50. SCORE another one for Clay. it also has the sport buckets. I am going back tomorrow to get those at 25 a pop.
thats not what this is about, its the fact that all the prices he listed , almost all of it could be bought new for the same price. And people who have mustangs are supposed to be helping each other out, not trying to screw the next guy over. He could still make money on the parts, there is no reason for the gouging going on. Its just bad business and crooked. Granted, you got to make money, but not at the expense of people who share the same hobby and are trying to restore their mustangs just like everybody else on this board. Now im not saying just that just cause joe blow comes in with a mustang that you should give him parts for free, but you shouldnt also charge such a rediculous amount that it bleeds the pocket of the buyer.
If people are willing to pay that then it's their own fault.
Don't rip the guy for making a buck. I didn't know there was a rule when you bought a Mustang that you aren't allowed to overcharge for parts. If that was true, 5.0 resto would be breaking that rule on everything they sell
If someone doesn't like his prices, let them go elsewhere. We all know if we look around we could find all the stuff on his list for MUCH cheaper.
Supply and demand
