Painted Engine bay

So I am thinking of painting my engine bay I did a search on this topic and found some info. But I am not sure in what direction to go. i know I just want the engine bay to look cleaner I dont want to weld up any holes or bondo any thing. I am looking at 2 directions to go... The car is the orginal color and the engine bay matches its just dirty and old looking. So I was thinking of painting it the orginal color to match but I want something tough something thats not going to scratch easy. I was also conserding painting it flat black. the car is dark blue any way so it wont look to bad if I paint it black. So my Question is who can color match the car for a cheap price? And how much paint would i need.Or who makes a flat black rattle can paint that will hold up to the abuse and heat and still look good. I would prefer to rattle can it but I want the rattle can job to look professional.

Actually some brands are better than others.

Stay away from Rustoleum paints. They are thin and run easy.

You could do Por15 or you could use a high temp engine paint. The high temp stuff works well and covers good.

Or the option that would be good for OEM match is have a local parts store that sells auto paint mix up some aerosol cans of the body color or a very close match in enamel. It isnt the cheapest way but if you want it to match good its a good way. Unless you can shoot paint with a paint gun.

Ya I am going to paint it flat black or semi flat it looks real sharp. I just need to know what paint to use. I see some guys use por 15, krylon, rustolium and dulpi color high temp but not many guys mention what they use I would like to use something tough to prevent scratching and chipping and good weather protection. I need sugestions

I like duplicolor and krylon. After it dries go over it with some rattle can clear to make it tougher.

I would say body color, but I like things to look classier. Mine was painted with a rattle can and noone ever seems to notice. Next time the bays done though things will be done right.

I think Por15 is what your looking for though. Maybe a bedliner material too? Not sure if thats too redneck for you, but real tough, easy to clean, and might not look like total crap?

Ya my first idea was to go color of the car BUT the car is not a show car and its a daily driver that is leaning more to street strip. And friday night car meet/ street race. And I figure it would be geting a alot of working on and I dont want ot have to worry about chipping it and scratching it. I looked I bed liner stuff but to thick and heavy. I also looked at trunk spatter paint but is not ment to see the weather. And to spray por 15 its a pain mine as well paint it. I think I will go with some dupli color ultra flat or flat 500 temp. Has any one used the dupli color under coating and how thick is it ? Not for the engine carperment but for the actual underside.
