Any suggestions for '03 Cobra exhaust mods?

I just recently purchased a black '03 Cobra Convertible that is bone stock. I sold an '03 GT convertible which had Flowmaster 40 series after-cat and a MAC O/R H-pipe. The GT sounded good outside but, it had the dreaded "drone" sound inside the car if any knows what I mean by that (like a humming noise). Any suggestions on which brand of aftercat and mid pipe to use and whether to go with an X or H pipe. I'm kind of leaning toward Magnalfow or Bassani. I'm looking for a good deep rumble at idle and the raspiness under throttle. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Congrats on the car. I have stingers on my 03 too. I have no other exhaust mods yet...and it still sounds sick!

Stingers are CRAZY loud with o/r pipe! Mine were bad enough I swapped BACK to a magnaflow cb LOL :D My favorite sound to date is Magnaflow CB with o/r X pipe, and longtubes to mellow it out.

If you want a performance gain as well, and don't mind the install time/difficulty/cost then pickup a set of quality longtubes like Kooks and an o/r x-pipe.

very nice I would go with bassani cat & x pipe then go with hooker long tube or bassani equal heads depending what you want to do in the future .I went with the longtubes but later i went with twin turbo and lost some good money. i have bassani x, cat, and a k&n and got it dynoed made 420rwhp stock was 353 rwhp and it is f-----g loud It is the loudest I think and heard go to youtube or putfile.com . you can go to rpm or lfp,www.bieberfever.com.com nice sale job well done welcome

I went with the Magnaflow O/R X pipe and Magnaflow Catback on my '03 thanks to U.M. suggestion. It is a pretty good setup, only complaint I have is that I think it sounds a little too ricey for me. I like the deep idle. I probably just need some headers to fix the problem though. Not a bad drone at all (compared to the Flowmasters on my old '98). But as far as I hear, the HP increase with the Magnaflow is second to none.

I had the Flowmasters on my 97 Cobra and they were OK, but had Magnaflow catbacks on my 99 and now my 03 and they're AWESOME. Best sounding exhaust ever. Just loud enough and sounds low and burbly low, but even better around 4000 rpm. The sound clips on their website don't do justice to how good they sound in person.

Get a mid pipe and then it will sound even better:D

I also have the magnaflow catback and catted x-pipe and while it doesn't sound nearly as good as my 00 GT with flowmasters and MAC o/r prochamber... it also doesn't have the drone of death at 2500 rpm. I can also talk to people inside the Cobra without yelling. After all, I love the Cobra cause I can run deep into the 11's and still have factory air conditioning, leather seats, premium sound and it doesn't sound like an airplane!

Rule of thumb I generally use: Start at the tailpipe and work your way forward. Don't get overly hungup on horspower yet either. Torque improvements should come first before you go laying out bucks on intake systems, throttle kits etc.. Loose the 3:56 gears and go to 3:73's. Don't let any one talk you into 4:10's. They work great if you dont have a blower but with one, you use up your horsepower real quick. Also.. Don't go putting some mega buck tire and wheel set on yet until you put a lowering kit on.
