2008 Model Build-Off

I just started on mine recently: I have everything painted so it should be mostly put together tomorrow.

I pulled my model stuff out tonight and i'm gonna start back up on it. I don't know about any deadlines but i'll post pics when i'm done. I'm going for as much realism as i can get without actually making any custom pieces.

MAN there's just sooo much to do. Every piece i look at there's a tiny little detail of color i want to put in, and that's a new color opened and applied and then wash the brush and repeat. So many pieces end up getting cut off the tree and painted that it's easy to get lost. The only thing i've actually glued together is the engine

I never finished what I was working on last year, I took photos of the box and the parts on the trees but they were on my hard drive that crashed. I think I might finish that up...if you guys don't think thats fair just let me know and I can start something new.

yeah mine is a 94 Mustang GT coupe...First model I am every doing so I hope it turns out somewhat decent.

Also is there any notchback mustang models out there? since I want to do one of those.

There are no aero nose notchback models. There is a body for one that you can buy on eBay that you use the kit that mustangdaren built to finish. It pretty rare though. I was going to buy it last time I saw one, but it ended up going to $60!

Dave, I thought you finished that model? I would just finish that one rather than start a new one. It doesn't matter to me, I just like seeing everyone else's work.

The model companies would make a killing off of a notchback model if they ever come out with one. I wish they would come out with some more pro-stock models because I use parts from them to convert the Mustang models to drag cars.

Your model came out awesome! I agree with you about the notchback. I would like to see an LX notchback and hatchback. It still boggles my mind that they have never released them.

Just sit tight for a few weeks, i'll show you a 1/24 resin Notch you can buy for around $30. Trans kit of course, you'll have to get a foxbody kit but this body turned out awesome!

I can't wait. I have an extra convertible model that will probably have everything except the pony wheels and 1/4 windows (open box kit that didn't come with the wheels ).

Hey just a tip for everybody.....

If you're like me and you can't stand how long it takes for glue to set, go out and get yourself some Super Glue GEL. It won't run all out of the tube like regular super glue and it takes a few seconds for it to set which gives you time to position your pieces. Just make sure you're ready to glue since it's obviously not coming back apart. I use it a lot on the little fragile parts that have a tendency to come off while you're handing it (wheels). Also if you don't have a pair of tweezers yet, get some. I also have some medical hemostats that i use to hold little pieces while i paint them.

Yeah I would have been done today with mine...but I am having a problem where the chasis meets up with the interor. They arent sitting flush and when I put the body on it looks like the front is lifted. I need to get something stronger like epoxy to hold the front and chasis together and then I would be good.

I'm pretty sure super glue would do you good there. My chassis is done but i'm gonna shop around for some wheels...not sure if i'm gonna use the Cobra rims and i really don't care for the "custom" rims that the Cobra kit comes with. I'm about to start my interior.
