okay so ive noticed a gas smell whenever im on a steep incline or i make a quick stop i smell it for a mintue or two then it goes away. well i got under my car and i noticed that the place where the filler neck connects to the gas tank was all wet i smelt it and it was gas. is there a bushing or and o-ring here or someting simlar i can replace. if not what do i need to do to it?

i know its affecting me bad when i have more then half of tank casue i filled up some yesterday to 75% of a tank and i have driven all of maybe 15 miles tops i mean like im in a 2 mile radius of my school and i drove to and from skool and dropped some kid off just a little out of the way and now i have maybe alittle more then a 1/2 of tank.

any and all help is awesome and thanks again.

it just takes a rubber seal.. you have to drop the tank to replace it. my car does it and the bandaid fix for a short time is to just not fill it up all the way...

its not that hard to replace, there is a few writeups on it around stangnet somewhere (not specifically the seal but dropping the tank)

had it happen to me cost about 20 dollars for the rubber piece and about 45 min to drop the tank and put the new one in

+1

Give yourself a little more time than that, in case of ???. Also, try to run as much gas out of it as possible before you drop the tank. It makes all the difference in the world. Also a good time to change the fuel filter as well.

well how hard is it going to be to sifin(sp?) out the gas.
i hav to wait till this weekend anyways i get my paycheck then.

how much am i looking at for the fuel filter?

how does the filler neck come down does it just come with the tank.

you can not sifin sp? the gas out that i know of there is a metal bar that stops you but you will need to open up your gas cap and undue the three screws around the filler hole and when you put the new gasket on use something to lubricate it so you dont take the chance of tearing it
