un-winterise the quads, cause riding season is just around the corner. Those that think your fast, I will keep the wax off my plastic as not to give glare when flying by ya:nice:

"Holdin on for dear life" just gave a new meaning.. Don't think I will even let the great Walter ride it this year. Its unalmost uncontrollable. I mean, street bikes give good meaning to "feeling the pull", but when you can be doing 40 mph in 4th gear, roll into the gas, and the front starts to pick up IN SAND...dang. Going to buy a wicked chest protector tomorrow night so I dont slam my chest into the handlebars.:flag:

The trike did 70 rhwp and 41 ft lbs tq. Race weight is 283 lbs. The new motor added 16 lbs. RPM extended from 7000 RPM's to just under 9000 with power not dropping at 9k. Comes on faster and pulls longer, so the increase is much wider making it feel like much more, compared to the last yrs motor.

With a 180lbs rider, you have a power to weight ratio of 6.6 or 6.6 lbs for every horsepower.
My stang has a 6.1 power to weight ratio,.... I love turbo's!!!!!!! LOL!!

Nate

p.s. you find a sandy area right next to a road, I think that would make for a killer video/race!:nice:

Lol. If your on street tires, then it would be fun for the the 1/8 mile drag, other wise, your car would smoke me..

However, your thoughts would be sweet to get on video. I shall think about this. I know the North part of Sand Lake has a stretch similar to this, but thats quite a ways for you to drive....unless you came with us for the whole day to hang out and ride. Our group is growing, even Chung got a quad:nice:

Sweet!

On pavement, no chance, I could not keep the front end down. Currently I am runnin a +8 swing arm, but it wont do me much good. The trike is as far as I can go and still dune..anymore, it will be a full on drag bike runnin alky and a out of frame drag pipe making close to 100 rwhp:eek: Which this could still be in the cards...

saleenster, what motor did you put in there? 70whp is just insane from such a small single cylinder. But that torque... :rlaugh: Sorry... I converted to OHCs a few years back and low the low end grunt.

You should take it out to PIR and run. Throw a wheelie bar on there if the +8" isnt enough. The launch is what makes it fun, especially when you have no idea what the front is going to do if there is no wheelie bar.

I raced my YFZ a couple years back in the 1/8th. I ate up a fairly well built Banshee off the line, but it wasnt long before he put me in my place. He was able to race the full 1/4. With my gearing and tires, I was about topped out by the time I hit the 1/8.

I think im done with the quad for now. I want to sell it, but I know I will regret it. I'll be building a house here soon and wont have the money to play with it.

Its an ESR 370 cyclinder with a Hot Rod 6 mil crank, CR ignation (which has the RPM extinder in it) Tons of mods in tranny, etc. The head has been worked over by Pete S who is one of the better honda motor builders locally. He had 2 bikes in Dunefest last yr, and both won their respected classes. If your ever on PS, his name on there is Pirana......perhaps you have heard of him?

It was dyno'd using LRD's which some say gives lower readings...so 70 on an inframe with their dyno is nutz. This will be my motor for this yr, then maybe get me something else not quite so wild next yr, then put the trike on alky and run a drag pipe for Albany drags..:flag:

here's a few snaps from this evening. Took some parts off after the pics to have them chromed.

saleenster I love it! Got some pics of the full machine and buildup? I was about to come in here and start runnin my mouth about my 50 hp z470 but maybe thats not such a good idea. Im in the market for a 250r trike you know where I could get one? its for a full build so condition isnt all the important. Also I have a trip planned to sandlakes for presendents day weekend so im getting a pretty earlie start this year!

Heres a little video i made of me and some buddys ones on a trike.

Here are a couple from last summer. Pipe is the same, but all new motor. 89 casing on right side with an 85 on the left.

50 hp from an LT 450 EFI is what you have correct? That is a fast machine that will beat 90%+ of the quads up the hill.:nice: What day you leaving this wkend Friday or Saturday? Also, the bike now has 9 paddle super lite's..

Nice video. The trike needs some mods though....

Your serious bout getting a trike? Make sure you get the liquid R which is 85 or 86 models. 86 if you have a choice cause the rear is the same as the R Quads, where 85 is not. Cost me a grand to upgrade....:notnice:

Keep an eye on CL, they pop up from time to time.

You should ride with us this yr. Gotta get Jeff, Wally and Chung out on the sand this yr....

itd be great to get together with some of you guys! id really like to get an 86 but would settle for an 85. Actually the quad I have started as a z400 now it has a 94mm bore and a 5mill hotords crank. Parts include cp piston , hotrods crank, yoshi cams, fcr carb, and kibblewhite valves and springs. Its 470cc. I bought it stock and did the motor build and full aftermarket suspension over the last 1.5 years. Its not much of a drag bike due to the full mx suspension stock swinger and v-blade paddles but it holds its own. Have you ever thought about using the pc racing plastic renew kit on your tank? My buddys was completely oxidized and we made it look like the pic in the video.

Honestly, I have some chrome parts and a few more being chromed, but the tank does not really bother me too much. When I am on it, my legs cover it...along with the cyclinder...:nice:

Wow, a zuki with a HUGE stroker, that bore is wicked. Should certainly surprise a ton of people. You and Duner would be a good run up the hill.

So, which day you leaving this wkend. Thursday looks to be the only dry day. I dont mind riding when its 50 degree's, but I wont ride when its raining and 50..lol

March 9th is daylight savings, so too me, this kicks off dune riding. I take a wk vacation for each month starting in April thru October, so I am on the dunes a ton! SL I usually only go to race and break in a new motor.....otherwise after bout 30 minutes, it gets boring unless you have alot of friends in the group

were gonna be there friday though monday. Looks like im bringin some rain gear. None of us have ever ventured to sand lake and I like to do a little hill shooting so I should be good for a weekend. Is race gas available nearby or should I bring extra?
