I have a 95 mustang cobra with a stock 5.0 (other than bbk equal length shorties). I'm looking for cam recommendations for a nice gain from around 3000-6500, give me good low end torque, peace of mind from piston-to-valve clearance, and a nice lopey idle. Thanks in advance.

A cam would be more helpful on a Cobra, since it already has GT40 heads. There are definitely better cams than the E303 though. Something with more lift and duration on the exhaust would be helpful though. The GT40's are still anemic on the exhaust side.

i say go custom, you can tell the person exactly what you have, exactly what you want and they will make it happen for you.

BUT you arent really going to notice a ton of power diffrence with just a cam..

if your money flow allows it, id do a hci now or save up for one... you dont want to keep taking your engine apart to put mods on... just do it all at once :nice:

the steeda #19 is a decent cam and is computer friendly. to get the most of out it, get a custom cam. however if it were me and was eventually planning on better heads and intake manifolds, but just want a little more for now, i would just get an off the shelf cam and save for the custom cam after the head upgrades etc was done.

The Crower 15511 has gotten a lot of really good recommendations over on Corral.net, especially for an otherwise stock 94/95 Cobra. The down side is it is almost as much as a custom cam, when you can find them.

IF you don't want to go custom, which I understand since you may want to upgrade later. Why not pay $50 to Jay and have a PROFESSIONAL tell you what will work best ? Keep in mind that you won't only be upgrading cam, but springs, pushrods, and maybe even lifters, and he can give you all that information.

Thanks for the recommendations guys. I'm thinking I'm going to save a while more and get a custom grind or the shelf-recommendation. Just have to wait and see how much I'm going to have left after the paint on my car is done.

I would suggest

Trickflow Stage 1 with 1.6 RR for the most HP.
Great cam, but the LSA is alittle low. Driveabiliy will suffer alittle.
& you will have to purchase 1.6 rockers.

OR

Steeda #19 with 1.7 RR (Keep the rockers you have already).
More computer friendly but will offer more HP/TQ.

I would personally go with the #19.

I have the Steeda 19, and it comes on more in the 2300-6000 RPM range; as it is also a good supercharger cam.

It does, however have a CPU friendly idle and has a lift of only .480 intake/exhaust. Those were two reasons why I got it. It does have some lope to it also. Steeda works very closely with Ford, so their products are top notch.

Grady just put together some info. on the cam with some graph's I found him. If you do a search you should find the thread.

If you just want a good street cam the 19 will work, if you want to go for all out power while having good street manners, I'd look into a custom cam.
