Help Installing a Sub and Amp to Stock System

So I am trying to install 2-10" Blaupunkt subs with a 600W amp into my 2004 GT with the Mach 460. However, I am having the hardest time trying to get it to work. I am by no means a stereo guru so I am getting help from a friends dad who has installed many after market stereos on his cars. Let me first tell you what we did so far and lead up to my problem.

We hooked up the power to the battery and the on/off to the fuse box. Then we looked for a signal from the rear speaker. After many hours, we found a signal and it worked. About a half hour later of trying out my new system, the subs popped and stopped working. That is, no more bump.

So then we figured out that something was wrong with the amp and bought the new 600W one. I looked online and saw the article on how to install subs to the Mach 460 system. I followed all the steps, and bought the Line Output Converter, but we still get no bump to the subs. We get only voice. We made sure that we flipped the crossover switch to lows. In addition, my rear 6x9s no longer give any bass either. Only voice. Only my front speakers bump.

However, when we hook up an MP3 player directly to the amp, it bumps real nice.

Does anybody know what is going on? We have tried picking up the signal in many different places, but keep getting voice, but no bass.

I would appreciate any help.

maybe ur head unit went bad... it happened to mine. like one of the capacitors inside blew. like for the sub output. For mine it did exactly wat yours did, and as soon as i got my new head unit it worked like a charm, sounds real nice.

What article did you follow? And yeah, sounds like you shorted out something in the Mach 460 system.
