I have been looking for a long tme, and have decided the S281 SC Coupe is going to be my next new car.
I thought about the extreme, but it may not make a good general use car I was afraid.

So talked to a dealer today and they have a few in stock I like.
Leaning towards the vapor silver, with manual tranny.

It does not have the 3.73 gears and maxi grip though, is it really needed or not?

Thanks

Sounds like a nice car!

I would not worry about the gears on a SCed car. I think you will have plenty of torque on tap to take care of your daily needs :)

You can always do a gear swap down the road if needed....

If this is going to be a general use car, or Daily Driver, i'd consider looking used.
You compile the miles on a brand new one, and you'll be taking the big original dealer loss hit, and then a bigger hit on the mileage if you have or choose to sell.
At least if you buy used, someone else takes the big loss.

That's just me, but i'm very cautious not to be upside down on anything i buy.

New Saleen

I just purchased my first Saleen last week now it is used a 2006 Yellow supercharged with only 540 miles on it they were asking $45,000.00 for it I made them a deal I had a 1997 Mustang Cobra Supercharged that I offered to trade and $35,00.00 out the door after about two hours of me going home and them calling me I got the deal and I paid $34,600.00 out the door along with unlimited oil changes, tire rotations and maintainence. I love the car I still have 2years and one month or 31,500 mile warranty.:flag:

Whether to buy new or used is a personal decision. There are usually a good number of very, very low mileage used Saleens available on Ebay at any given time.

I would try to get the 3.73 gears, even if you don't get the Maxgrip differential. Although I'm not sure Saleen will let you order the 3.73 gears without the Maxgrip differential, which I've heard is a good mod if you're pushing your car hard on the twisties. I have the stock (3.55) gears and I don't feel like there's enough pull off the line. My guess is the 3.73 gears with Saleen's 20" wheels likely give you a final ratio equal to a car with 18" wheels and 3.55 gears. I am putting in 3.73 or even 3.90 gears shortly.
