? about amount of HP my car made

I have a 86 mustang gt with a 331 stroker, ported performer heads, unknown cam, 1.7 roller rockers, victor jr., 650 demon. It is a 5 speed car with the tremec out of a summit magazine. My question is it made 420hp and 404 tq on a dyno dynamics dyno at the rear wheels and I was wonder if that sounds right to you guys cause I was thinkin mabey it would make 375 or so at the back tires. If you need more information just ask and Ill tell you all that i know about the car.

Difficult to say.
My guess from what you posted, and no facts to base on... I'd say 270-300 at the wheels.

If you run it down the track... you'll know what it is. That will be a FACT.

Woah! I dont think so man. I would hope they are a lot higher than 270-300. Those are mild 302 numbers. It's a carbed stick car! Not an injected auto!!!!

A 331 with ported RPM heads and a Vic Jr intake should be putting down at least 350rwhp. (If all the supporting mods are done properly)

You're numbers are high...i would question the dyno calibrations. Perhaps another dyno session or some track times would give some more insight.

As I said, and repeat... run it at the track, only then you, he, I and everyone else will see the facts.

Im just saying...and i repeat...those are MILD 302 numbers.

If i built a carbed 331 that only made 300 at the rear wheels with ported decent heads and a good intake...i would be PISSED!

It had better make more than 325 at the wheels.

How was it corrected, std or sae?
Alot say my numbers are fubar or the dyno wasnt good, my 306 put down 406 tq, 350hp at the wheels. That was rated at std, most use sae, and i think sae is what most quote, its about 4-5% less than std. So sae rated my car should be in the 330/380 range.

best test is the track, which mine hasnt seen yet..

it was done in 3rd gear. The nitrous kit was unhooked due the a failed nitrous soilinod. I didn't know it had failed untill we got the to the dyno it wouldn't open and I hooked it from the system and ran wires to the battery to see if it would open and it did not and I didn't hook it back up.

I have 2 new niods coming in and I will be back to the dyno to see what a 180shot does

Did your car make that much power on Speedy's dyno? His is a SuperFlow.

4th gear is 1:1, and as stated, this is where a 5spd car should be dyno'd.

Why does the dyno sheet say '87, when you have an '86?

The track is nice, IF one can drive.

I have raced zo6s that run high 13 second quarter mile times. So at 3200 lbs, what would the HP output be?:)

The dyno takes this variable out.

Both the track and dyno have their place.

I find it funny that you will take track numbers as fact when there are variables of weight, traction, and driving ability that will change the numbers dramatically and will in no way give factual proof of how much horsepower he has. Given his track times and speeds, you could only estimate his power in probably a 50hp window.

Something is not right. I just dont how 420rwhp is remotely possible with that setup. A 400rwhp 306 would sound nasty as hell and you would probably have to rev it to the moon. What kind of compression are you running? Pump gas? Sounds mild
