Hey guys, I am currently saving up for patriot stage 2 heads for my 2001 mustang bullitt 2v 4.6l GT. I was wondering if these are the best(+hp,quality, price) heads for the amount at $1,269. or would any of you advise me to get different heads?

what were some issues they had with their heads?

they had alot of issues with valve guides causing oil consumtion some actually had oil in their exuast manifolds. However from what i have read patriots quality has gone way up I read somewhere that after all the modular and ls1 heads that had issues the owner actually cleaned some house and fired quite a few people. I have also read articals about the owner going to great lengths to make his customers happy with thier products. If this still stears you away I would go with some mmr heads they dont cost much more and I have never heard anything bad about their heads.

im just really tight on the money right now, bad time to get these but i figured i would now since i stripped my threads and dont want to just pay to get stock heads. Do you know a site or somewhere that I can get cheap cams? or maybe a set of heads and cams?

i think the only difference in the stage 2's and 3's are bigger valves in the 3's, stick with the 2's. stock cams will work fine if money is that tight but it sure seems like a waste not to go ahead and change them. check around the classifieds at corral.net i think there are a couple used sets for sale. i picked my comp stage 2s up there used for $400 shipped with springs. i think the patriots come with upgraded springs though.

Everytime this comes up it's the same conversation.....

there is a reason why there's been no Problem with Patriot heads in the recent past....The company put out a product with a problem, ended up acknowledging it in end by fixing the problem.

that being said, how can you guys say that he's taking anymore of a chance with the patriots vs anyone elses given a great track record over the past couple years since fixing the product?

fyi....I love my patriots, they were a good mod in my opinion...

and to second what someone else said above, it makes no sense to do th heads without cams in my opinion....

wanna' buy a '59 Edsel, or how about a '74 4cyl Mustang:eek:
its the same all over, make a bad product and it leaves a bad taste in peoples mouths, thats why....you've had good luck wth patriot heads, thats great but what about those that didn't and it cost them an engine?

yeah patriot stood behind there heads but who picked-up the tab for all the broken rods, pistons, engines, rental car and down-time? the customer, thats who.....and I for one had several customers who had problems and were on ther own for the damaged parts and the labor, big $$$$ is what it cost them, so thats why I'LL NEVER RECOMMEND A PATRIOT HEAD.....same is said about gms parts, pure junk......so for us to warn/inform people about past problems wth these products is wrong??? I'll sleep better at night knowing I warned someone of potental problems vs NOT telling people they WERE problems.....:flag:

My comments weren't directed specifically at you. They were more general comments to all the people that have bad mouthed their current product based on some experiences with their past product. I'm simply wondering how long a company has to provide a quality product to lose the rap of some mistakes. I would have thought a couple years with a good track record now would be sufficient.

You ask me about the people that didn't have a good experience? well what about them? it sux...I'd be pissed off and bad mouth their customer service. And no it's not wrong to tell people about personal experiences with products. but if i understand you correctly...... They're customer service sux and they didn't do the right thing in the past. So, the product their currently making is bad and they are at risk of getting bad heads vs the other brands? doesn't make sense. And for you to say that you'd never recommend their product is ridiculous. People and companies make mistakes, and sometimes to not do the right thing. That does not mean they never will. If you held a problem or a mistake in which a company did not do the right thing over their head I have a feeling you'd never be able to recommend a single company under the sun for anything......McDonalds for food, UPS for shipping, Ford for cars, etc etc..

If people say....stay away because their customer service sux...fine. (though I've had a very good experience with gunnar)

I have no numbers to support this, but having not seen any examples of a bad product produced in quite some time I'd say that he's got just as good of a chance of nice proper heads showin up with patriot vs any of the other good brands out there.

which brings me back to where I started......how long does the company have to turn out good heads for people to say that the heads are ok and on par quality wise with the competition? a decade? I mean jeez....I think it's been a good couple years now......I mean, firestone tires were killing people and it didn't even take that long for them to re establish their name.... you don't see people running around firestone threads screaming they killed people....
