Balancer Suggestions

  • Sponsors (?)

If you keep up with the engine master challenges, you'll see a lot of people use the PP balancers. I bought the SFI after doing some research. It has held up well after a couple years even with the street of the blower belt pulling on it.

I have installed the non-SFI one on another Mustang and am doing another car tomorrow afternoon with the same balancer.

Most are just fine with the non-SFI piece, as I think you will be. Look at the recommended RPM ranges for each. Be sure to get the spacer that goes along with it.

I depends on what your rotating assembly was balanced to.

Factory is a 50 oz imbalance, but a lot of aftermarket stroker kits and such are balance to 28 oz or for some extra buck, internal (0 oz).

Your flywheel also has to be the same imbalance.

just replaced mine with a pioneer/powerbond piece from summit, they price matched it for $165. no spacer needed, 50 oz, went on easy, SFI approved, good up to 12,500 RPM (excessive) . Part number PIO-872030.

One last note would be that there is some junk SFI stuff out there - just because it's SFI doesnt mean it's quality. I'd take a non-SFI Pioneer over some of the junk SFI's any day.

Good luck.
