I forgot to say anything earlier today. My mom-in-law called me at lunch and asked what year my green mustang was, and thinking it was a sell opportunity I said "2001... Why?"

She said the 05-08 Stangs were recalled but she wasn't really paying attention as to why.

Anyone know? Just an FYI:shrug:

I think I heard something about them catching fire due to a faulty cruise control switch?

I only caught part of the story I heard mention of Fords so I figure that includes the stang.

Man. From faulty ignition switches to faulty cruise control 10 years later. What is it about Fords spontaneously combusting.

And by the way, my friend Craig was working as a parts gopher in the late 90's when his 87 t-bird caught fire in the parking lot. That's got to be good on morale

I'm a little late to the party but were those fox body guys talking smack about ford forgetting to give our cars balls for real? If I remember correctly their cars came with between 215-235 hp depending on the year. I've had them and I still love them but the S197 comes with way more balls stock than they ever had.

My friend still has a 93 LX hatch N/A with a ton of work put into it, heads, cam, LTs, and a billion other things. For some reason he has been avoiding me though. I can't wait to see what happens when I do run into him though. Hopefully Ford gets these cams out soon, then I will feel even better about my chances.

hey maybe this will help out....I am a service writer at a Ford dealer so I deal with all kinds of recall....and SSM (special service message) or TSB (technical service bullitens) both which are nothing like a recall (customers often get them confused with a recall) situations.

Recall 05S28 is the cruise control deactivation switch recall...this is the one that affects MOST Fords,Lincolns,Mercurys, its the one that has all the hub bub over starting fires....the ignition switch is not the problem...also customers will say nothing is wrong with their cruise control...the problem is not the cruise control...the deactivation switch is hooked to the brake fluid resevoir...it tends to leak ...then the fluid can smolder and catch fire the recall has a fuseable link harness that hooks in between there.then will pop when the smolder happens thus saving you from a car b que.........call your dealer and have them run your vin to see if yours is affected, again not all vehicles are affected and parts are not all available for all models,so the dealer is disconnecting the cruise until the parts are available.......Mustangs were NOT and let me states again NOT included in this recall.

#2 The recall for the 2005-2008 mustang is the 08C02 which is basically a ecalibration of the restraint control module.....again call your dealer and have them run your VIN and seeif yours is covered.....it consists of the tech hooking his scanner to the pcm and recalibrating it with a Ford software update for the restraint control module....I hope this helps.....also .... i have access to my Ford work computer at home so I can check VINS (I can find out all sorts of stuff,Warranty, warranty claims,ESP plans) here when I have time thru the Ford OASIS........hope this helps you all......
