Weight question

I'm not sure about the weight of the SN95s although I know they are lighter but here are some weights from the S197s.

From Car and Driver: 2005 Mustang GT w/ Manual Tranny = 3575 lbs
From Motor Trend: 2008 Roush Stage 2 w/ Manual Tranny = 3592 lbs
: 2008 Saleen S281 w/ Manual Tranny = 3614 lbs
: 2008 Shelby GT-C w/ Manual Tranny = 3591 lbs

I did find the weight of a 2003 Mustang V6 at 3113 lbs. The V8 would probably weight a few hundred lbs more. Maybe someone else knows the correct weight.

According to Car and Driver, the 2005-2007 Mustang GT is 3575lbs, which they quote as 215 more than the SN95, which would be 3360lbs.

Bad Karma, Edmunds is giving you the curb weight for the V6, not the GT.

I just weighed my 07 GT down at the gravel yard. With a car load of junk and a full tank of gas it weighed 3,480. so I don't think there as heavy as car and driver says. If I cleaned out my car (mostly tools) and had a 1/4 tank of gas it would weigh about 3,400 pounds. I was allways told the S197's weighed 3,800, thats why I had mine weighed, I couldn't believe they weighed that much and they didn't. Needless to say, the S197 weigh a lot less than the 4,150 of the new challenger.

That's interesting maybe the numbers I posted from the magazines include a driver?

our local weigh station we use to weigh cars...its not correct you have to add or subtract from the number it shows...i cant remember which thought...;lol

I don't know how accurate the gravel yard scales are, I guess it depends on if they rip people off on thier stone ha ha. My car is an average GT, I only have the 500 stereo, not the 1000 with the big sub woofer in the trunk. A guy on pass time on the speed channel had an 06 GT and they ask him what his weighed and he said around 3,300 pounds. That sounds closer to mine that what motor trend is saying, so I don't know.

I don't know how many times I posted this but here it is again.

Way back when I got my 05 Mustang GT, I put it on a truck scale. It weighed 1580 kilograms( approx. 3476 lbs ) with a full tank of gas, full weight and no driver or passenger. On the exact same scale, same day and just after my car was on the scale, my friend's 04 Mach 1 was put on the scale. Same deal as mine, full tank of gas, full weight and no driver or passenger. His car weighed 1585 kilograms( approx. 3487 lbs ).

My car has:

Redfire GT with Black Leather seats
5 spd manual
Shaker 500
Active Anti-Theft
Interior Upgrade Package
Side Mouldings
17" Bullett Rims

The only options it didn't have was the Machined Rims, Shaker 1000 and wheel locking nuts.

The Mach 1 is an Azure Blue/Black Leather 5 spd manual with Interior Upgrade Package. I do know that there is a significant difference between a SN95 GT and Mach 1 when comparing them weight wise.

The 'shipping' weight of a GT is 3356 (deluxe) or 3375 (premium). Add a full tank of gas (~90 lbs at 6 lbs per gallon), and the radio (shaker 500 is 15 lbs, shaker 1000 is 73 lbs), maybe auto trans (~40 lbs) and that's your cars weight, +/- 20 lbs for other features & whatever mods you've done.

From this spec sheet:

Page 26. lotsa usefull info in there.

Yup that’s about right. The Mach 1 is about the same as the S197 because of the 4v under the hood. Sn95 GTs are a about 200lbs less then mach1s and S197s.
