'Cause i don't have a garage :notnice:

I've had it out before, but the first time it rains or i get caught in the rain it just dumps water down on top of my engine. Until i figure out how to prevent that, it's stayin in. In all reality though, these scoops are there mainly for extra intake/breather clearance. Even with it open, the engine compartment is already under pretty high air pressure from air rushing up from below the front bumper, and the scoop isn't large enough to allow enough air to come in and overcome the pressure and allow air to get in.

Yeah, I cant park in the garage either. But its all good. Once I cut out the hole in my hood it actually keeps my engine about 5* cooler. :nice: But now it only runs at 170*, where optimum performance for the 5.0 is 210*:notnice: (or so I've heard, correct me if I'm wrong)

How big did you cut the hole? My hood is stamped with the hole from the factory and it takes up pretty much the whole under side of the scoop, so water is just gonna pour in through it. I've thought about trying to find a fine screen to put at the opening and maybe that would keep some water out but i don't want it to be ricey looking.

this is what i think you should do. i did a quik sketch on photoshop. basically the box it has under the scoop will let all the air flow smoothly but at end of it, has a mesh covering the outlet. so the water the goes in and sits at the bottom, will not be blwon into the engine. basically like a ram air filtration system instead of actual ram air.

Interesting theory, but in the end I think it would fail. The water would eventually fill up and spill into the engine anyways.

A better idea (in theory, probably wouldn't actally work though) would be to put a peice on the bottom 1/3 of the scoop, to deflect water off and away from going inside the engine.
