K&N filters are bad apparently???

To the guy that said they filter AND flow better I say no way. It can't do both. They let more air flow because they DON'T filter as well.

I considered a K&N but I pulled one out of the box and held it up to the light in the store. What I saw were holes in the filter media large enough to pass dirt. A good filter media will pass light evenly but this actually had holes that light was shinning through. No thanks!

Thats what I thought but I did some research on K&N and apparently they were FIRST used back in the late 60s by desert offroad racers and became so popular because they outfiltered the paper filters of the era. I also just read that K&N has won more Baja-Style desert road races than all other filters combined. So I would assume that desert style racing would allow the most dirt to enter the motor but apparently the K&N filters worked better in these conditions according to the readings I just read.

As stated this is just like the engine oil dispute. How does this guy know what contaminated his mass air sensor....is he sure he didn't have blowby?

check this scenario...

On Monday I sleep with a girl who is 400lbs :)rolleyes: ).....on Tuesday I sleep with a girl who is 110lbs:)nice: )...but my bed breaks and comes crashing down. Who's to blame? The girl who weighs 110? We'll never know....

I agree with what was said about the fact that there will always be opinions on which is better. Just like oil, oil filters, etc... I've used K&N and no problems. Considering using on in the GT, just haven't decided yet.
