AHHH loud noise!

a buddy put a new head on his motor.
Now the thing is knocking like crazy.
Checked all the tourque specs and it seemed fine.
Any idea what went wrong?

Just 1 head was swapped out.

Did you check the clearances?

No I wasnt there till he was finished. I know its making alot of noise.
May have clearence issues?
Could it have messed up some valves now?

What was wrong with the head in the first place? Was the new head milled?

Now he said it wasnt a new head.
Said the old one had a plug break off in it.
Took it to a shop and they helicoiled it. Then he bolted it all back on. Then it started knocking.

I wonder if the helicoil went in too deep? Either when it was first installed or when he screwed the new plug in.

I dont like the idea of a helicoil in a plug hole, I've seen a helicoiled plug that blew out on a Cavalier a while ago.

Yea the shop that did it said helicoils were flawless. lol
I pulled the plug and the plug looked fine. Wouldnt it break the helicoil by it hitting it?
