New Stang, Bullitt or GT?

I will be buying a new Mustang in the next month as soon as my truck sells. I was initially looking at a GT, but then I made the mistake of test driving a Bullitt. I was then sold on a Bullitt, but now am second guessing myself. To help you understand my indecision, I am going to keep the car *BONE STOCK*. I have had cars in the past (and now have a truck) that I have modded to the point of making them uncomfortable and impractical to use as a daily driver. My intention for this car will to be use it for a good-running daily driver. I love how smooth and quiet the S197's ride and drive--lightyears ahead of my SN95. They drive almost as well as a non-performance car. I am very impressed with the new platform.

I do like the 3.73 rear end and extra 20 horse of the Bullitt. It may be in my mind but it also seemed to handle better and ride smoother. Since I will be keeping it stock, I also like that the exhaust already has a good sound to it. Add in the intake (cool looking if not functional), slightly lowered stance, better seats, guages, shifter and exclusivity and the car has a lot going for it. I still can't get over how plain and blah it looks. I understand that is the goal, but I wish it had a spolier, foglights and better looking wheels. I like the clean look but at the same time it reminds me of a base model V6. I also really prefer grey or tan leather over the black, and I don't care for either of the color choices. Decisions, decisions. What would you guys put an emphasis on when looking at a new Stang? Keep in mind the car will be bone stock. As soon as I did the first mod, I wouldn't be able to stop. A simple intake and exhaust would soon turn into Kenne Bell and drag radials lol. So what would you do?

The whole point of the Bullitt is the plain and simple look with a bit more balls which I love, I wish I could have a black one actually...reminds me of the old fox body lx coupes. If you dont like things about the Bullitt then just get a GT, save a few bucks and if you want you can get the same mods a Bullitt has but better like your choice of exhaust, and cold air intake kit and actually make more power.

It sounds to me like your not really impressed with the plain look of the bullit. The 20 extra hp isn't going to mean much in a month as the performance thrill wears off and you crave more. However you have to look at it every day and if your not happy with the colors or plain look, you will tire of it quickly. I would get the GT, as I also like the looks better. It wouldn't take much to match the performance of the bullit if it's really an issue, but paint is another story.

if your leaving it plain stock, then get the bullitt. It sounds like it already has everything you want in a car.But to be sure, have you already test driven a GT? Compare both on a test drive and you'll know for sure.

Hell, get a gt/cs. looks way better than a normal gt and bullitt (in my opinion) but doesnt cost as much as the bullitt. my 08 cs stickered at just over 31 and I got it for 29, not bad for a car that can be left visualy stock and still look good.

There's no rule saying you can do performance mod's to a Bullitt... :nice:

I think the only guideline is to try and maintain the stealthy outward appearance of the car. So.... if you want stealth go Bullitt!!! If you want bling-bling go GT/CS!! :D Either way more power to ya! Mustangs rock!! :flag:

You must have gotten a helluva deal, cheapest bullitt ive seen thus far was going for 34k round these parts. It looked way to plain...especially sitting next to a Parnelli saleen..

Absolutely!

In fact, I would like to see a few minor changes. I think the Bullitt would benefit from a few improved touches.

Maybe the "mustang" letters on the rear, like the '68s. Maybe some type of spoiler... maybe.

DEFINITLELY louvers!!! That is the one thing that car is missing, if anything!!! Gotta be green (or black for a black one) and gotta be the multi-louvered type (like the silverhorse).

I'd go for the GT and get the FRPP shocks and springs fitted. The Bullitt is too plain for me and I don't like highland green - I know they do them in black but that really destroys the point and you might just as well go GT/CS and have the full color choice.

To each their own! :nice:

I happen to love Highland Green so getting this car made great sense to me! Only downside was that I had to trade in my sweet Mineral Grey 05 to get it. Oh well... ya only live once so ya might as well enjoy the ride! :hail2:

Get the Highland Green Bullit. Any mustang can be black, pretty sure the bullit is the only mustang that can be te highland green color choice.

Right you are sir.

I attempted several different routes to try and get my '08 V6 sprayed Highland Green when I ordered it in October... but every route failed. I even offered to pay Ford for the paint job, but they said no.

It is clear that they want the Highland Green to be unique to the Bullitt, even if someone is willing to pay them more cash for it. I respect that.
